Good and Bad

The bad news is that Connor has four small cavities that have to be fixed, on top of the $300.00 bill I just paid today. Gah... I really really need to win the lottery or something.

The good news is that the temperature outside right now is 24C ( 75F)

Somehow the good doesn't make the bad seem any better.

Jennifer's WANTS and NEEDS

Show & Tell

My favourite chocolate bar(s)

You know I couldn't just pick one. I know it's nothing exciting, but if I see one of these sitting on the shelf in the grocery aisle checkout, I usually pick one of them up for a night snack.

So there's a bloggers meet here and here on the same weekend. One is obviously too far for me to go to and the other is only about 6 hours away.

Problem with both of them is the fact that it's Connor's birthday, and there's parties to be had. And since I am the mother... I pretty much should be around eh?
I'm still thinking about it......

It's Spring

Spring has definatly sprung. It's 11C (51F) outside right now. There is not a cloud in the bright baby blue sky. The sun is so warm beating down on my black sweater, that I was actually sweating as we walked home from bringing Connor to school. Who, for the first time ever... rode his bike to school. It was strange watching him pedal his way up the sidewalk. He looked so small yet so big at the same time. He was overflowing with excitement. Megan was a bit upset that she had to ride in the stroller but quickly got over it. She even fell asleep on the way home.

I remember when I use to ride my bike to school. Same school actually, only many years have passed, and things just aren't quite the same as they were back then. I didn't have to have my parents walk with me to school. My parents didn't have to worry so much about crazy people out there. There also wasn't as much garbage along the side of the road as there is now either. Sad really, how much junk is just thrown carelessly onto the ground.

Have you noticed how much garbage is just laying around along the sides of your roads? Is there any? a little or a lot?

Pasta Night Bake Off

Tonight for dinner we went to Connor's school. Which held a "Pasta Night, Bake Off" We had yummy penne pasta with tomato sauce, meatballs, salad, buns and juice. The Bake Off was the dessert! Maybe not everyone but a lot of us entered this "bragging rights only" contest and what we brought was dessert. So I wasn't going to bring anything, since I'm not a baker really. But I felt awkward going for dinner and not contributing to dessert. So I decided to make my mother-in-laws Strawberry Glaze Pie. Have I ever told you just how amazing of a baker she is? Well she is I tell ya! My brother was kind enough to come over and help me make the crust. To make sure I didn't destroy it. Which I very well could of. So I must not take all the credit. I had two pros helping me, but I DID the work so technically that's not cheating!!!
and I won SECOND PRIZE!
That there is my ribbon that I got. First prize went to a Cherry Cheese Cake, and Third prize went to a Key Lime Pie. Neither of which I got a taste of, but considering how yummy all the other desserts were I'm sure they were good.
I very much did enjoy a slice of Apple Crumble, Some chocolate square that was VERY chocolatey, some carrot cake, and a slice of Banana Cream Pie, a maccaroon, and some of my pie. We were stuffed to the brim leaving tonight. The kids had a great time. It's nice to actually get to see Connor interact with his classmates. To sort of see how he is when we are not around. They ran around and around the gym making my head spin trying to keep an eye on them. Megan got cranky near the end and it was off home to bed. We really enjoyed our night out and it was nice to sit and chat with other parents as well.
oh and here is some pics of my 2nd prize winning Strawberry Pie :)

Drat

Went to pick up a few needed items today. While putting said items in the trunk, the cart slammed rolled into the side of the car, leaving a lovely dent, which goes perfectly with the bald tires, and the much needed alignment.

After picking up the things we needed,(ketchup, vinegar, snacks for Connor's lunch etc) came home to look at the balance of the bank account. To see that we're MINUS $154.00 two days after payday just friggen sucks. So you know, if there are any rich strangers out there say maybe 30 of you, that would like to send $1000.00 each or even 300 of you who want to send $100.00 each you know it would be greatly appreciated and would get us just out of the hole that we are in. AHAHAHAHA kidding of course well not really but really ;)

At least the weather is warming up. It's currently 7C or 44F outside. Maybe if we go out and wash the car, the dent won't look so bad?

Show & Tell

Good Morning everyone

I almost forgot it was Show & Tell day... well because if I thought yesterday was Tuesday, I also thought today was Wednesday. But here are my windows. They're not much and as you can see, I live in the basement.

What day is it anyway?

As I opened my eyes for the first time this morning I looked at the clock. 7:59am. That couldn't be!!! The kids ACTUALLY slept in for a change. They've been up before 7 or very close to 7am for a month now. And in 11 days it's time to change the clocks ahead! Then I realized how my head was pounding. I hate waking up with a headache. It just makes for a not so good day. Which I've had enough of the past few days. Everything just seems to be getting to me. I don't know why, I don't even know what. I'm just in a pissy mood and don't really feel like talking about it.

It's most likey PMS as well as the weather. There is a layer of snow out there this morning (explains the headache) I'm sure it will melt soon. I hope. So I get out of bed, and I make my coffee and wait for the kids to wake up, sure enough I get the water in the pot and there's Connor wishing me a good morning. I put the coffee on, and next I hear Megan MOMMY HELP! I look, and there she is on the rail of her crib trying to get down. I help her out. Plop down at the kitchen table to read the paper. Nothing much interesting is happening around here. A bunch of cars are getting broken into. There's an article about blogs being a secret marketing plan or something, my horoscope sucks, and I don't see anyone I know who had a baby or died. Then I get up to get my now ready coffee and I look at the calander. Connor asks me what we're doing today, and I tell him he has school. He's upset that's all there is to do today. I look back at the calander and see that it's my friends birthday today and I need to call her. But wait! I did that yesterday. I look again. I see that today is Wednesday? It's not Tuesday? I'm still confused. Time for some more coffee.

You Are Emerald Green

Deep and mysterious, it often seems like no one truly gets you.
Inside, you are very emotional and moody - though you don't let it show.
People usually have a strong reaction to you... profound love or deep hate.
But you can even get those who hate you to come around. There's something naturally harmonious about you.
What Color Green Are You?

Today is my brother and sister in laws 2nd wedding anniversary.. Happy Anniversary Ronnie & Eve!

Sunday already!

I got this fun quiz from Jenny over at Jenny's Journal.

You're 70% Irish

You're very Irish, and most likely from Ireland.
(And if you're not, you should be!)

I think I'm a little more Irish then 70% my maiden name is an Irish name however my grandparents come from Scotland. My mothers side of the family have some Irish as well. But 70% is pretty good I guess.

I can't believe how quickly the past week has gone. Yesterday we had a funeral to go to. A friend of Adam's father has passed away. We weren't able to make it to the visitations, but we did manage to get to the mass. It was a beautiful mass. We didn't understand a word of it since it was all in Italian, but it was a Catholic mass, so we followed along just fine. I actually enjoyed the mass more I think then if it were in English.

Afterwards we packed up the kids and headed off to visit with some cousins. We really enjoy visiting with them. They have a daughter who is 2 weeks younger then Connor as well as a daughter who is 8 months older then Megan. They also now have a newborn. I just love the smell of a new born baby. Sigh... The kids had a wonderful time. I did some haircuts and we had a barbeque! The first of the season. Hamburgers and hotdogs for 6 adults and 5 kids. Lots of fun.
Today I woke up to about an inch of snow. Connor has a birthday party to go to for my cousin who just turned four. And tomorrow it will be back to school. Did March Break go by this quickly when I was a kid? I just don't remember. The last March Break I remember was 10 years ago already! Click here to see why!

Princess Megan

She's TWO!!

Do you realize that when I started this blog, I was JUST pregnant for Megan?!? I so regret losing my archives from 2003 on. Oh well can't do anything about it now. So anyways.... Megan just turned two. I still can't believe it myself. To read all about her birth story please click here it's the post for her 1st birthday and there's pictures over there too!

We had a lovely day. I had a chiropractors appointment at 10am so we dropped the kids off at mom and dads. Afterwards we went to costco to pick up some chicken wings. Then headed home, cleaned the house. And waited for friends and family to show up. I was so happy to see Whirligirl and her girls. It has been way to long and they are growing way to fast. We had pizza and wings and everyone gathered for the Princess's birthday. By everyone I mean at least 40 people. I think? Give or take a few.

Then the Princess opened presents and blew out her candles

And has just grown so much that I can't believe that this is my baby!!!

Today the kids are gone to have a sleepover with Grandma & Grandpa. They'll come home in the morning around 9am and we're headed out to go swimming with one of Connor's friends from school and her sister and mom. Should be fun.

Batteries?

I can't seem to find where exactly the battery compartment on Megan is. The child is out of control and her batteries have to run out soon right? Let me take you back two nights ago. She was up all day long, and slept from mabye 8pm to 12am. Then was up the rest of the night. Last night. She went to bed at 8pm got up at 9pm. I watched the clock turn from 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, I think I slept through six, and then I woke up at 7am. That's just INSANE!!

Just so that I wasn't a totally cruel parent. I tried to put her down for a nap this afternoon. She refused. She's been playing all day long with her brother and cousin. I hope that come 7:30pm again she will go to sleep and SLEEP until at least 7am.

Now you're thinking why is this child not sleeping? Well I can only guess that
1. She's teething
2. She's growing, * developmental growth spurts* much harder on the system
3. She's a freakin MACHINE... I gave her tylenol and that STILL didn't knock her out. I rocked her I cuddled her. I even broke and let her lay in bed with us. But nothing was going to keep her down.

So play well baby.. play as much as you like today.. keep yourself busy cause Mommy knows that tonight... tonight you will sleep.

I hope!!

hmmm it's a full moon tonight isn't it? And tomorrow is her 2nd birthday???

Lord help me!

oh and if you don't link to my other blog... that has been updated too, you can find it over there in my sidebar... please keep in mind that if you know me from here, I don't mention my kids names over there. I don't know why. I just don't.

We had quite the thunderstorm last night. Woke everyone up but Megan. It's been rainy and warm the last few nights. I even slept with the window open last night! The trees are budding and the birds are chirping really really early.

AND because I was really really bored today I did this one too. Which is correct, I am a first born.

Connor conversations

Have I ever mentioned how dramatic Connor is? He's the kind of kid that should be in movies. Just like his Dad. There's never a dull conversation with this almost 5 year old. Like the other day..

Adam and him were fighting, and Connor gets mad and says to me with a stern voice.

Connor: Mommy! I want to move away.
Me: You do do you, would you like me to pack your suitcase?
Connor: YES!
Me: But where will you go
Connor: pauses for a second and then says... Well you have to come with me...
Me: Oh no I can't move away, I have to live here with Daddy and Megan
Connor: Oh alright I'll stay I guess

Then there was this morning

Connor comes down the stairs while I'm sitting here at the computer, I thinking he was still in his room behind me asleep.

Me: Good Morning buddy... I didn't know you were upstairs!
Connor: I didn't either

He then comes to sit and cuddle on my lap. Then he goes in his room (most likely to wake up his sister) he says he wanted to go back in his own bed. Well of course Megan wakes up and is cranky from that. Princess Megan should never be rudely awoken you know!

So she's sitting on my lap now and Connor comes out of his room...

Connor: Mommy, I want to move
Me: You want to move? Why?
Connor: With the huge pouty lips and eyes.. oh those eyes.... "Because nobody loves me"
Me: Well I love you Connor and Megan does too, but she didn't like it when you woke her up

A few minutes pass

Connor's sitting in the armchair and I put Megan down to go get her changed, as I stand up...

Connor: Mommy, my heart is broken (again with the pouting and the eyes)
Me: Couldn't help but to laugh... I go and give him a hug and ask him why his heart is broken
Connor: Because Megan wouldn't give me a hug
Me: Still hugging him, well I'll give you double hugs and kisses is that better?
Connor: Yes... Thank you Mommy

March Break!!!

This is my first March Break as a parent of the student!! For so long I was the student. When I was in school I looked forward to March Break for many different reasons. Now I'm looking forward to March Break for MUCH different reasons. I get to spend a whole week with my girl AND my boy! We will have friends over to play, we will get some spring cleaning done. We will have a birthday party for Megan, which by the way we got Princess napkins, a table cloth and grab bags all for 50%off!! Am I good or what!

Sometime this week we will go to a public pool with some other parents and kids from school and have a great time. One of Connor's classmates had a baby sister last night. We all huddled around and oohed and awwed over fresh newborn cute as heck baby pictures today. I wish them all the happiness in the world.

So far as of right this minute Adam has 4 days off starting Wednesday so that makes this March break even better! But sadly that could change all depending on a co-workers father who is expected to pass away. But the weekend holds fun a visit with cousins, who also just had a baby in January, so it will be nice to meet her!

Hope you all have a great March Break!

Progress

If you've been with me here awhile now you'll already know that I've suffered a bad back/hip for the past year and a half or so. If you haven't well I'll catch you up. I've had a bad back now since I got pregnant with Connor who will be turning 5 in May. After Megan was born, after I healed from my surgery. After she got a little too heavy for me to carry. I got sore again. Only this time it was much worse. Not only my lower back hurt, my right hip hurts as well as the pain going all the way down my leg to my ankle and the three last toes. I can't walk, I can't stand, I can't sit. It's torture. So awhile ago I started seeing a chiropractor. I had to go three times a week. I was re evaluated and brought down to two times a week * which I'm suppose to be doing now, but have only been going once a week* So the progress! Since November, I still have a sore back, I still have the numbing in my leg and I still have a very sore hip. BUT I can now go grocery shopping and not have to sit down half way through. I can do so without a numb leg. I can now go to Walmart and walk around the whole store and not get sore. Just today I walked from Connor's school to my house * about 2 blocks* WITHOUT PAIN!!!! Isn't that wonderful!!

Big Day for Megan

Today after we picked Connor up from school, my mom and I took the kids to the mall. Megan is turning 2 next week and we wanted to get her ears pierced. It was my mom's present to her since it cost $56.00!!! She was very good about it and sat nicely in the big black chair. She let the lady put the dots on her ears and then we picked out a pair of earrings. 14K gold. The ones we chose are flowers with her birthstone in them. I'm now thinking they weren't a good choice as her hair keeps getting tangled in them and pulls a tiny bit when we move her hair out of the way. I'll keep a CLOSE eye on her and if need be, we might have to change them. They sure are pretty though. She did cry quite a bit after the gun went off, but it was nothing a sucker couldn't cure.

Doesn't she look pretty!

Afterwards we headed off to Payless, where my mom bought each of the kids 2 pairs of new shoes. I'm so grateful for that as I can not afford them right now, and the little monsters keep growing on me. Megan's poor feet were so stuffed in her size 4 running shoe her toes were red and sore after just an hour. * She's been wearing her boots all winter, but since it was so nice out today and no snow it wasn't boot weather* She's now in a size 6! Connor is in a size 10 1/2 He was in a 9 at the beginning of the school year. Sigh... Tell me...Why must they grow so darn fast!

I have also updated my 100 things list.. you can find that over there as well -->

Can everyone see the colours and so on okay on my blog? Is there something you would change? Something not looking right, or bugging you?

If you don't tell me, how will I know!!!

Show & Tell Thursday

Today for Blackbird's show and tell Badger would like to see our calendar. I use to have a Kim Andersons calendar every year that Adam would buy for me for Christmas.... However, since we have kids now, and one of them being in school, I found that there just wasn't enough room on my nice calendars to put the things we have to do on it. Also I use to use a permanent black marker, (to match the nice writing on the pretty calendar) and now I find myself adding and erasing more and more. So we found this...

It's got magnets on the back and nice big boxes so I can fit a lot in each day if need be. It also fits on my freezer door perfectly. To the right of the calendar, is Connors school calendars that they send home each month as well as Adams work schedule.

Here is a larger view of the calendar and I've typed over top of the writing so you can see what it says. Click to enlarge As you can see, today is my Nanny and Papa's 49th Wedding anniversary! It is also my cousin's 11th birthday. My grandparents really are something special I tell ya! But what I still can't get over, is the fact that my cousin is 11 already, it seems as if it was just yesterday that she was the newest baby in our family...and now.... there are 7 more after her including my two kids.

Time sure does go by quickly doesn't it!! Happy Thursday everyone!!!
