One Week and counting

In one week we are going to jump into the car yes all four of us. We are going to drive the longest drive the kids have ever experienced. I'm estimating about 11.5 hours it should take us. That's including stopping to eat, stretch and potty breaks, stopping for toll, slowing for traffic. Could take less could take more I'm not sure.
<--Connor has been to a beach once.He was one years old here. I was pregnant with our second pregnancy. And this is a lake. We're heading east and we're going to see the ocean. I have seen the Atlantic ocean once in my life. On our trip home from Florida when I was about 13. Megan has never been to a beach, and of course they've never seen the ocean. Adam has been to where we're going. He was lucky to have parents who traveled with him. We're all very excited. Our first real family vacation. Connor being six, and having an incredible memory he may remember this vacation. Megan is three... I'm not sure how well she will remember. But non the less it's an adventure I'm sure we're going to love. That is of course if the kids behave and the weather co operates.
So now I ask you this. Yes you with the experience of traveling by car with small children. What words of advice do you have for me? What am I to remember and not dare to leave the house without? Anyone?

Swimming

Connor has been swimming unassisted since age three. I began teaching him at birth. Drop him in and he either sunk or swam. Eventually he got the hang of it and swam. Now Megan is a different story. Same thing, from birth sink or swim. Well when I let go of her as a baby she'd just freeze and not move, where as Connor would flail his arms and kick his feet. Megan is now three. She can swim, but only with her feet, and she can't get above the water. I've done everything to show her/teach her to use her arms. She just won't do it. GAH see

Connor is just swimming like that because Megan is. He can actually swim around the entire pool without any help.

Rambling away

We finally got some rain
My kids are driving me crazy
I'm tired of having to raise my voice
We had to have some "serious" talks
It's nice to have a friend again
Apparently I have all new friends
The old ones I guess are just no longer friends
What does "friend" mean to you?
My hair has lots of split ends
I have not been sleeping well
My period fooled me and only pretended to show up
My kids are driving me crazy
We had a nice time at a wedding on the weekend
We have another to go to in September
20 days until our vacation
I really hate the big comfy couch
Yes the new one too
My feet are getting softer
It's 8:21pm and the kids are now going to bed
These bugs are very annoying
My mom will be 50 in one month
I will be 30 in less then 6 months
I'm not worried about it though
I have a bridal shower to go to next weekend
I still don't know what to buy
I need some chocolate

The end is near

The end of my two days of peace and quiet. Adam's parents kept the kids over night Wednesday and Thursday night. They had a great time and even went to a zoo with a splash pad. I enjoyed my time sitting around doing nothing, as well as some shopping. I had to buy a skirt for a wedding I'm going to tomorrow. I'm not happy with the one I got but it will do. So it's Friday and the kids will be home in a few hours. I'm going to get the grocery shopping and banking done, before they return. It's also Friday the 13th and if I'm not mistaken tomorrow is a new moon.

I hear my coffee is ready
Have a good day everyone

Blech

I'm tired
I'm hot
It's 44C out
that's 111F
It's not even the hottest part of the day yet
I'm hungry
But who wants to eat in this heat
Blech

Then & Now

This was Connor three years ago

This is Connor now
Yes he broke his arm AGAIN.. just a teeny weeny little break at the end of the wrist. He was playing on the swings yesterday and for some reason while swinging really high he thought he'd let go of the chains. Fell to the ground and hurt his wrist. I didn't see it happen I was inside cooking dinner. I put some ice on it, and kept an eye on him all night. He was able to slightly move his hand, and his fingers. So I wasn't sure if it was broken. This morning when he woke up still complaining of it hurting I brought him to the hospital. Same doctor as three years ago. Can you believe it! Only this time for the 3 or so hour wait we had this to keep us occupied
~Thank Goodness~

So three weeks from now, we'll go back to get the cast removed and he should be fine. Luckily this time it's a WATERPROOF cast! So he will still be able to enjoy the summer swimming! I am just hoping this is the LAST time this happens. Twice in six years is ENOUGH for me!

Robbery I tell ya

So Megan has a cavity. I knew this. I can see it. So I brought her to the dentist. After the hygienist counted and brushed her teeth the dentist came in and took a look. Yep that tooth needs to be fixed. She won't do it though. I look at her like she's joking. She says she'll send Megan to a specialist and they'll take care of it. Okay? I said with hesitation in my voice. I pay them $66.00 for them to brush and count my daughters teeth. Something I could do myself why don't I get paid that kind of money and I do this every freaking day! And off I go.

Anyways... I get the call from the specialist and the lady on the phone explains to me that the first visit is only a consultation. Take a look to see what needs to be done, then the second appointment would be the work. They would put her to sleep, and fill the tooth. That right there sent alarms off with me. I do not want my child put to sleep to fill a tiny little tooth! So after talking today with a friend, she tells me of her friends child who had to get that done. Two little fillings, and $800.00 later!!!! Oh no way! So I get home and I call the specialist.

Me: Hi there I'm Jennifer and my daughter has an appointment on whatever day. I understand the consultation is $50.00 but I was wondering if you can give me a rough estimate on what the actual procedure will cost me?

Her: Well we won't know that Mame until we see what needs to be done

Me: It's just one filling.

Her: Well the anesthetic usually runs about $400.00/hour and the other work is about $200.00

Me: Um....O.K.A.Y.... I'd like to just cancel all appointments then, because there is no way I have that kind of money.

Her: Oh?... what will you do then just contact your office?

Me: Yes.. thank you.

So I call my dentist and explain to them that I have just gotten off the phone with the specialist, and that there was not a chance I could come up with that kind of money. I explained to the girl who's been looking after me since I was about 8 years old that if my dentist won't do the work that I'll have to look into getting another dentist. She understands and asks that I keep them posted.

So after roughly 21 years I need to look for a new dentist. They did the work fine on Connor, and he's been going there since he was 3. Why not Megan? She's never given them any indication that she wouldn't sit still through the procedure, she was a perfect angel through her very first visit. Not like me when I was little and even BIT the dentist. So now I just have to call around I suppose. It's not like I can leave it. The cavity is in a molar. It's going to get bigger, and she won't loose that tooth until she's at least 9? 10? or so.

I hate dentists! Don't even get me started on how my doctor treated me today when I brought Connor in because he complains of a sore chest. I did get an ECG done though. So pray those results come back okay. Which I'm sure they will.

Three year olds just don't understand

I knew when she got here we'd have a fantastic time. I knew my family would enjoy having her here too. I love her to bits, so why wouldn't they right? Well Megan I think got really attached. Tonight while we were outside and Megan saw an airplane flying by. She said to me "Mommy, I really really miss Beff" "see that plane, that's what Beff went on" It's funny, because the entire time Beth was here Megan would ask constantly " what's that girls name again?" or would say "I want that lady to help me" Not often did she call her by her name. We even tried 'Auntie' to help her out. But nope. That Lady and That Girl was mostly her name. Beth has been gone now for awhile, it'll be a week tomorrow, and not a day has gone by that the kids haven't asked for her, or asked about her. I find that super sweet. Since I know I think about her every day, well even before she got here.

I've "known" Beth now for three years. We talk nearly every day. We've become the greatest friends and I love her to pieces. We've been there for each other through some difficult times , we understand each other and it's crazy how much we think alike. I loved having her here. It's taking awhile for me to stop missing her. The kids too... obviously.

It truly sucks that she lives so damn far away!
