Thirty years ago today was the Blizzard of '77. I however wasn't even conceived yet, but my husband remembers building snow forts that towered over his head.

Tonight.. thirty years later... The snow if falling from the sky. Big white fluffy flakes that has made my world, a marshmallow wonderland :)

Do you remember the blizzard of 1977? What were you doing?

Wedding Dress

My poor wedding dress... I took it out today and it's all yellowed and yucky mostly around the top :( I hope that the cleaners will get it somewhat better. It's my own fault though. Adam and I will be married 8 years this August. I should have had it done right after the wedding! Damn me!

No Internet= Unhappy Me

My internet service is down. I've been lost without it. And complaining, doesn't do much of anything. They can't get someone out here until Tuesday. While on the phone with the very nice unsuspecting man I very rudely commented that "I'm paying $50.83 a month to be out of service for a week!" He said that my account would be credited. You're darn right it will be... I am not a happy customer.

And obviously not a very smart one either. My grandmother has a wireless laptop. And sure enough someone within range doesn't have their signal locked like I do! So I'm borrowing their signal now.

I came up to show my Nanny the very sad video of Connor at the school assembly today. The poor little guy has such terrible "stage fright" His class doesn't usually get to attend the assembly because it's usually in the afternoon. Well the poor thing cried the whole time they were doing their special song for the school...
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can help him overcome this?
As you can see it was p.j's day at school.

Because I like to complain okay!

No matter how early I go to bed, no matter how well I sleep... I am just NOT a morning person. I don't like to get up, get showered and head out the door. I like to take my time, have a coffee or two. I like to sit and relax, and I most certainly don't like having two kids who don't listen to me in the morning. It doesn't help that my headache is back. It doesn't help that my arm still hurts from my tetanus shot on the 7th and Megan or Connor keeps hitting me there. It doesn't help that I have my period, it doesn't help that it's hot and stuffy in here. I am wearing a no sleeve shirt and it's -8C (17F) outside. I'm tired.. I'm cranky and that is that. Hormones are nasty little buggers eh? Which is what I'm going to go to the doctor in about 1 hour to talk about. I'm also bringing Megan with me to get her cheek looked at. She's had this red spot on her cheek for a very very long time. Since Thanksgiving and even well before that. It bubbles up like a cold sore, then when the bubbles go away it's just this yucky red splotch.

Okay enough of me complaining... I got this email from a friend yesterday, I really enjoyed it. I hope you do too.

1. Moms work at work and work at home & dads just go to work at work.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter....
She would know it was my sister who did it and not me.

3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

My Mom

My Mom and I are very close. We spend a lot of time together, go shopping, out for lunch, we use to go to bingo alot, however we don't hardly ever anymore. I've lived with my mom my entire life. When I was 15 my mom and dad separated and divorced. I was okay with the whole thing as I didn't get along with my dad. He was always sleeping or working. For years after I still didn't get along with my dad, but this isn't a post about him. It's a post about my mom. She has been single now for 13 years. No casual dates, no nothing. Well this past September my mom had a date. With Bob. She has "known" Bob for almost 8 years which is as long as she's worked at her work. But how much do you really know about someone from coming through your shop? So when I found out my mom had a date with Bob I was very happy for her. They went out and had dinner. Since September she's been out with him about as many times as I can count on my fingers and toes. So not very very many. Few hours here and there. Well it's nearing Christmas now, and my mom tells me that Bob is getting her a present. " Oh? " I say.. " what's that" and she says " a trip to Las Vegas" .....

Well... I wasn't sure what to say, but I said it anyway. " No way in hell you're going" " you barely know him, you're not taking off to Vegas with some man you hardly know!!" For weeks I put up quite the fuss about it. I hadn't even met him yet. My brother STILL hasn't met him yet. Well... I met him a few times, and he is a very nice man. But I don't care.. that's my mom and she's NOT going.. After awhile after I made my point I gave up fussing. While I still don't think it's appropriate for her to accept such a gift, she is 49 years old and can do what she wants, and has been single well over long enough.

This morning I drove my mom to the airport. She's now in Las Vegas with Bob and they are probably checking in at the hotel right now.
She will be home on Saturday and I pray and hope you will pray with me that she has a wonderful time and returns safe and sound

Photos for Friday

First time the kids have been able to play in the snow since December 5th.
Connor loves to play in the snow.
As you can see by her Megan's cheeks it's pretty cold out there. But they played and played for a whole hour out in the snow!

It's very busy outside today. The Water Department is hard at work digging up the street. There is water all over the road.

I'm not sure who took this picture.
If I had to guess it would be the work of a sneaky two year old.
I'm not sure what it is..

But I like it.

Happy Friday Everyone!

Last night I had a dream that I was at a party. It was at my house, and there were a whole bunch of people that I know but haven't seen in a very long time. At one point in my dream I was standing behind a bunch of very tall people. It was strange, yet felt so real. I looked up what party meant in the dream dictionary Party To dream that you are at a party, suggests that you need to get out more and enjoy yourself. If the party is bad, then it indicates that you are unsure of your social skills"

Well that is just what we did last night. Adam took me to Arby's for dinner and then we went to the show. We saw The Good Shepherd. It was quite slow and a little hard to follow. But it was good. It was nice to get out.

This is Connor all ready to go to school this morning. He was very happy to get a special award yesterday. For lining up at home time all the month of December. While that is awesome and all, I really think the teacher gave it to him, so that we wouldn't think anything more of her forgetting our child not once but twice!!!

We are proud of him though. He's doing very well in school and is growing up so fast. We've noticed a big change in him lately. And he's just too darn cute for me!!

Waiting

I'm waiting to hear crashes coming from outside. The trees are covered in ice. It's absolutely beautiful. But heavy. Very heavy. It's very cold so it will not melt. But the wind is picking up and it is snowing big fluffy heavy snowflakes. That love to stick to ice. I won't bore you with any more pictures... but if you are interested you can view all of my Ice Storm pictures here. I will update it as I take more.

I am also waiting to find my camera case. Has anyone seen it? It seems to have disappeared.
I am waiting five more minutes then I'm going to go scrape off the car a.g.a.i.n
I am waiting to watch American Idol tonight. I have to wait, they won't put it on for me now
I am waiting to see if I will get my period this month.. I missed it last month and don't know why
I am waiting to see how well this will work. It tastes like shite so we'll see how often I use it
I am waiting for a cheque to come on the 19th. I need some more milk and bread
I am waiting to try my new address labels.
I am waiting to see how well this will work. Bob was so kind to get me some
I am waiting to write a post about Bob until Monday

What are you waiting for?

Ice Storm

We had an ice storm last night. I think pretty much all of Southern Ontario did. It's not too bad in my area yet as the snow has not started falling yet. But still.. I had to get up and get Connor off to school. That was an adventure in itself. Click on the pictures!!
Scraping off the car was lots of fun. About a half inch of ice there. Not to mention the ice pelleting my head. Should I mention the tree above me?
Of course I take pictures... I'm invincible don't you know? Nothing will fall on MY head.
But close enough. Just was I was out there I hear a crack look up and OH NO! I must tell you that the objects in this picture are closer then they appear.

I knew it was coming. Remember the pictures of the buds I took the other day? Remember how I've been saying we're going to be in trouble... yeah. It may not be as bad as it was in 1999. But it has happened again. And it's not over yet. It's only just begun.
Winter has arrived

Interesting stuff

Doing quizzes online, because I'm bored and have nothing better to do. I am chatting with a friend though and she's doing the quizzes with me. So it makes it fun.

Here is something I found interesting. I've always wanted to get my cards read.

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.

The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

What Tarot Card are You?Take the Test to Find Out.

Together again... at last

Yesterday was wonderful seeing my friend again! We had lots of fun sharing photo albums, and watching our kids play. That was something else on in itself.

The kids had a great time, I was very unhappy though that Megan kept hurting their little girl. Our husbands got along really well too. There was only one thing that there could have been a war about and that's Pepsi vs Coke haha.

Now I can't wait until September when our other friend gets to meet up with us

Another day another year older

Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes, the e-cards, the virtual gifts and the thoughts. I truly am thankful for each and every one of you!

I had a nice birthday. Family over for dinner and some nice gifts. I got money from my in laws, my grandparents and my brother, I got a gift certificate for Boston Pizza and a manicure and pedicure from my Mom and Bob. Hmmm I'm not sure I've mentioned Bob here. That will have to be a post soon I guess.

Today we had lunch at Costco while picking up a few things and then went to Wal Mart. I got a new plain black t-shirt and Connor got some new boots. After we got home my mom watched the kids while Adam and I went grocery shopping. Do you all know how much easier it is to shop without two kids?

Now I'm tired. I should be cleaning because I have company coming tomorrow. I'm very excited about this. My long lost friend and her husband and kids are coming to visit. I have not had any contact with her in THIRTEEN years! We will have a lot of catching up to do, share pictures and hopefully have a good time. A friend of mine asked if I was nervous. You'd think I would be, but I'm really not. Is that weird?

Is 29 Today!!

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Thank You!!!

Tomorrow is my birthday. Look what I got!!!!

I know some of you were hoping I got snow. It really does make me a very happy girl. And just in time for my birthday tomorrow! YAY!
It makes up for the all crap I dealt with yesterday about my dad. I won't get into it, but just know that he's once again managed to piss me off and it's frustrating because he just had his birthday, and I even went out on a limb and tried to show some sort of support. Well all that is gone now. Oh well.

Scary Pictures

I spent the day with my cousin Tracy yesterday. We drove about an hour away to bring her boyfriend to college and then we stopped at a little shoe store, but couldn't find any that we liked enough to buy, even at 50% off. Oh well. Afterwards we had a very yummy breakfast at
We each had sausage, toast and homefries and she had eggs as well. I don't know why but every since I had Connor, eggs make my tummy feel yucky. Afterwards we went to the movies to see Night at the Museum. There is the trailler for it if you like. We thought it was really good. I suggest if you have young kids you should bring them to see it. I know they'll like it. After we got home I saw Adam off to work and then called a friend, while my crazy children danced to Christmas music.

So I was saying yesterday I have some scary pictures for you. No they are not of my foot. Gross! But of something much more scary then that!
Above: Lilac branch... click to enlarge and see when I took thisThis is taken in my front garden. Yes it is a bulb growing.

Even the trees out front have buds on them. They are maple trees. Do you know what kind of mess they make in the SPRING with all the little red buds that fall? Yeah. Our driveway is covered in them NOW in January. Yes It's January people!! And I live in CANADA!!! it is WINTER not SPRING!

Told you it was scary!

And this little piggy cried YEOUCH!!!!

I had a little bit of an accident last night. I was helping my grandmother move some furniture around. I had to kick the knitting bag out of my way. Well when I put my foot back down..... a knitting needle went RIGHT through my foot. It didn't pierce the top but it was poking out. My Nanny pulled it out of my foot and I hobbled to the floor. I was mostly in shock. But it didn't hurt, it didn't even bleed. But I had to go to the hospital. Which was jam packed with a whole bunch of really sick people. I ended up getting a needle for a pregnancy test which was negative, and then a tetnus shot. So now not only does my foot hurt, but my arms hurt too! Argh.

I have some pictures of something really scary to post. But not today. I have to go get ready to go on a mini day trip with my cousin.

Have a good one!

Back to Life, Back to Reality

Oh my!!! where did THAT come from! ahaha how many of you will have that song stuck in your head all day? hmmmm?

Well it is. It's time to get back into routine. I've started taking down the decorations and am anxiously waiting for Adam to wake up to help me with the rest. The holidays seem to be my time to skimp out on cooking. So I've gotta get myself back into the swing of things. I'm thinking of making pork chops tonight.

A New Year

Last night after ringing in the new year with hugs and kisses from my kids and husband. I'm laying in bed and I get a feeling about me that something isn't right. Somethings not good. Something told me that this isn't going to be a good year. I have no idea why. I have do idea what. I just had a strange feeling. I'm going to ignore that and take this year one day at a time and try and make the best of it. But I wanted to note that feeling just in case I need to come back to it at some point. Maybe it's because I was tired, maybe it was because I have such hopes for a wonderful year. Maybe I'm feeling sad... I don't know. I do know I don't like those strange feelings I get. They happen quite often too. The other night, I was laying in bed and I had a strange sense that we * Adam and I * weren't the only two people in the room. It was quite odd. I looked around, saw nothing. Went to bed and didn't think any more of it.

We spent our New Years Day, just like any other year. Have a quiet morning and then get ready for the evening full of lots and lots of family. Things have changed over the years now that our family has grown to 27? We use to have a sit down turkey dinner. Now we have a "potluck". Fill your plate and find a spot to eat. I'm thinking I want to try and start having my own traditions. With my own immediate family.

Everyone has gone and the house is quiet again. Adam had to work tonight so here I am. Blabbering away.

Happy New Year!
