What I did so far today

I woke up earlier then I wanted, but right on time with when I will have to wake up from now on
Fed the kids and gave them juice
Tried to think up a new blog template
Fed the kids some more, gave them more juice
Had a shower
Went outside and cut the lawn and sprinkled some grass seed
Power washed the drive way, the car seats, and a few other things ( with Adam's help of course)
Got some scary news concerning my Papa. Prayers... prayers would be good.
Made dinner
Listened to much crying, fighting and whining from the kids
Got mad enough and put the kids to bed before 7pm
Sat down at the computer with a cup of coffee and some cookies and a bottle of water
Am concerned about a certain couple of friends and hope things start getting better for them
I feel a cool breeze through the window
My head is aching
I'm off to read some blogs, and look at the weather
then probably go to bed

Today is the day!

My kids are coming home!!!! I miss them so much. Nine days is entirely too long for a mommy to be without her kids.

I just talked to them on the phone and they'll be home around 7pm. I think I'll even let them stay up late just to get some extra snuggles in :)

It's cool out today. 20 C (68F) it's cloudy and windy and I'm wearing my comfy jogging suit. I'm one happy girl! Now if my headache would just go away. hmmmm

My first Blogger Meeting :)

Adam and I drove out to meet Stacey! Here we are having lunch. It was a lot of fun and it was so strange to "know" someone but not actually know them.

I was a little worried that I wouldn't recgonize her, and I didn't really know what we would talk about. But that didn't end up being a problem :) I knew who she was as soon as I saw her, and we didn't have any trouble looking for conversation. Her friend was very nice as well, and the four of us had a great meal.

We'll have to get together again sometime! It was fun! Posted by Picasa

Go to sleep already!

It's way past my bedtime. Yes it's now 2:30AM. two thirty in the morning and I am wide awake. I haven't even tried to go to bed yet. I'm just sitting here listening to music. Everyone in their right minds are asleep. I am not. I saw my ghost again today. Believe what you want, I know what I saw. So I'm waiting for Adam to get home before I go to bed. I'm not scared of the "ghost" I'm just not sure I want to lay down in a dark room by myself.

Call me crazy if you must. I don't really care.

tomorrow today I go to meet Stacey at 1:30pm. I'm looking forward to it. Another reason I should be asleep. Going to meet a blogger friend and I'm going to have huge dark circles under my eyes from no sleep!

Okay well I at least can go get ready for bed.

Goodnight

We have progress

Thanks to everyone for all your colour suggestions. As you can see here, we've decided to go with sandstone cove you can check out that colour at The Behr website if you like. Just click start colour smart and choose the first option and type in the name of the paint.
I was totally freaking out about it. I'm talking panic attacks and everything. We HAD a colour picked out " scotland road" but when I was fiddling around in paint on the computer we found that we didn't like it at all. So then we were left with ..... NOW WHAT! It took us forever to pick a paint colour in the first place.

So we decided to go with something completely different then what we liked and we're now going to paint our dressers as well. We're going to paint that "traditional" so you might like to check out that website :) Today we got all the priming done, the ceiling as well as the first coat of paint on the walls. It's now 10pm and we're exhausted. Why we decided to paint yet another room. Yes this is our third room in only a few weeks. Yes we are crazy. But it's been SO boring without the kids here. I'm missing them so much. Only three more days to go. We also bought new rocks for our fish tank. All of our fish have now died, and we're going to clean out the whole thing and get rid of those pesky snails and get a new look to our fish tank as well. We'll let the kids pick out the fish though.

Then on Monday! I'm meeting my first blogger friend :) Stacey will be in my area and I'm going to drive to meet her. Can't wait!

No kids? Let's PLAY!

So it's been four days with no children around and I'm missing them terribly. It's amazing how different it is without them here. I've been so bored. And feel so lost without them. they'll be home in four more days * and counting* I heard from Megan today. She sounded like she was tired, and missed me. Connor sent a message along with my grandmother " tell mommy, that I'm safe and she will be okay" can you belive that kid! He didn't even want to go into town to talk to his own mother! sheesh! He's having fun though, he's got a friend there and they're swimming and fishing and having a great time.

So yesterday we decided to go on a trip. To Canada's Wonderland! We had an amazing time. The weather was great. Nice and cloudy and sunny yet cool, it rained a bit but that was okay too. Only once did we get too hot standing in line. But it was over quick enough. We brought my cousin along with us. And he's so much fun to hang out with. He's a good kid. And luckily he enjoys rides as much as I do. Came in handy when Adam wasn't feeling too well to go on one of the new rides. After only having three hours sleep that night and eating a sub that just wasn't all that great he wasn't feeling good. But soon felt better and had a good rest of the time.

However it's SOOOOOOO expensive there. Here's what it cost for the day including tax!

Two tickets * at discount price* = $75.00
Parking= $9.90
DVD of us on Top Gun roller coaster= $11.00
Lunch: 2 Subs a pop and water= $26.00
Dinner: Hotdog and poutine and pop=$15.00
Coffee for two to go home=$10.00
I am not joking about these prices that's SERIOUSLY what it cost!
Isn't that just INSANE!!!!

I don't think we'll be bringing the kids there any time soon. That was just two of us. I couldn't imagine a family of four or more!

Big hugs to Beth for telling me to try a White Chocolate Mocha from Star bucks. It certainly helped me get home awake. We did have a really good time though, Want to see pictures? There was only three rides that we went on that we didn't get photos of. The wooden roller coaster because that was just insane, I cried and have sworn off wooden coasters. I'd like to keep my brain and body parts INSIDE my body thankyouverymuch. another a mountain coaster and another steel rollercoaster.

We were so tired by the time we got in the door that I couldn't even see straight. I'm just glad we made it home. After I had a shower and hit the pillow, the phantom motion set in. Does anyone else get that? Or is it just me? I'm laying there in bed and all I feel like I'm doing is going around and around like on the roller coaster, and zooming around. Ugh it's awful.

Anyway.....
We thought we'd take full advantage of our kid free time. So we emptied out our bedroom, and plan on painting it tomorrow. here is a before shot of a torn apart empty room. I had a colour in mind. A lighter green, but after fiddling around with paintshop I've decided it just won't work. So I haven't decided on a colour yet. We'll see what happens. Any suggestions?

My Weekend In Pictures

My mom and I had wonderful overnight stay in Toronto. It was her birthday gift from Adam and I and the kids.

We headed out Saturday morning and braved the city traffic.

Where do people learn to drive anyway? According to my mom, I drive like I live in the city.

Lunch in the park

We had dinner and drinks.

This is mine. Yes you read that right. I had an alcoholic beverage. (if you know me at all you know that this is something unheard of!) I even finished the whole thing! It sure was yummy!

For dinner we had potato skins for an appetizer and I had chicken fingers and fries, and mom had an open faced steak sandwhich. Oh so yummy!

Then we walked to the theater. To see LORD OF THE RINGS! This was my second time seeing the play and it was just as amazing the second time around. Seeing the look on my moms face was priceless. I snuck a shot of the stage. Shhhh not suppose to do that. I know I'm such a rebel ahahaha.

Three and a half hours we sat and we watched and we enjoyed. Then we walked back to the hotel for some snacks and fell asleep. I was up bright and early the next morning by ten to eight. You'd think with having no kids to wake me up I'd be able to sleep in! not a chance.

After breakfast we took a walk around the garden in the middle of the hotel. I was FREEZING! The weather had changed dramatically from the day before. It was fun though.

We checked out and were on our way home. What is normally about an hour and a half drive took a little longer, due to traffic. What is the deal with all the traffic in the city? Crazy people who don't know how to drive. I had a woman behind me playing with her hair, singing and she was so close to me that if I would have just tapped the breaks she would have rammed right into me, because she wasn't paying attention. Did I mention I was going about 130KM/H? Yeah! We finally arrived home and I was greeted with HUGE hugs from the kids. They sure missed their mommy! We went to Harvey's for dinner and then home to bed. Well the kids got to go to bed. I had to pack for them. My grandmother has taken the both of them for a whole entire WEEK up north. About 6 hours away. Into the bush for their camping trip. This is Megan's first time. Connor has been many many times. Only this year he was a little more concerned about swimming in the lake with fish and turtles, and LEACHES! yuck! I'm best at home where I don't have to see all that. Because I know I would totally freak out if I found a bloodsucker on one of them or me. Gives me the heebeejeebies just thinking about it.

So Adam and I are on our own for an entire week. We have plans to maybe paint our bedroom. Wash the carpets and seats in the car. And I'm hoping maybe we'll get a chance to head out to Canada's Wonderland at some point. Depending on how money goes. But for right now. I'm relaxing here by the computer without anyone tugging on my arm asking for a drink. Or asking what can we do now, or tattle that one or the other pinch*ed* them. I'm having my coffee in peace and quiet :) In about an hour or so I will miss them and wish they were here. I have a hard time when they go up north. I can not call to see how they are. I can't just get up and go visit them. sigh.

Very boring day

I hate it when Adam has to work during the day. Today is the last of these crappy shifts and I'm quite thankful for that. I've been SO bored all day long. The kids pretty much kept themselves occupied. So I did this that Macdaddy mentioned.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's 49th birthday. Connor has been following her around everywhere. This morning started off with them making her breakfast in bed. He was so excited to surprise her. They had a lovely breakfast out on the patio. Cereal, nectarines, orange juice and coffee for mom. They gave her a present. A yellow sweater, and helped her unwrap it. Now they are upstairs doing a puzzle as you can see here. Megan's finally taking a nap. Soon we'll go shopping, and I have to go to the chiropractor. I think we'll take mom out for lunch or something. Her REAL birthday present isn't until this weekend when Mom and I will go to Toronto to see Lord of The Rings on stage. And spend the night in a hotel room. It's going to be a lot of fun. I already know Lord of the Rings is fantastic, because Adam and I already saw it. And Mom deserves it because she does so much for us. She's really a wonderful Mom and Grams.

Happy Birthday Mom :) Next year be prepared to get picked on hehe!

I'm tired

Last night was crazy and it continued on to today. It started when my lamp by my bedside fell on me? Was thrown on me? I picked it up? I don't know, but I was asleep and then all of a sudden rudely awakened by the lamp, which broke by the way. Then this morning as we were putting Megan's room back together I had to clean out the cubby hole as well. It was musty and I had to check for mold. So while I was under there cutting a hole in the foam lining the walls to check for mold( No mold was found thankfully) the shelf which is on the wall, with some teddy bears on it crashed down. Broke the corner of the brand new dresser we just put in there. How it fell I have no idea.

The kids are fighting and they're bored and it's crappy outside, and Adam's working and I'm tired and it's just not been a good day. I also got the results back from the kids tests, which showed no growths * bacteria* and so strep throat is not a factor. They're better now though.

I did get some pictures of the room. You can see the cubby hole, and shelves in the second photo.

Here is what it use to look like. And where you see Megan's dresser is where Connor's use to be. There also use to be a closet door, but they broke that all to pieces so it's gone for now. I'm still thinking I'd like a curtain there instead of a door, but we'll see what happens. We still need to get Megan a bed, as well as her bedding. Probably Disney princess or Dora or something that she likes.

Hope you're all having a better Monday then I am! :)

The Concert

Last night Adam and I went to see Chris Isaak. It was our present to eachother for our 13th "together anniversary" We went last year too. We started the night off by going to Applebee's for some food. We had a gift certificate, so it only ended up costing us $2.50! woohoo!

Afterwards we headed to the concert. We browsed in some shops and I got a really cute black "denim" outfit. Jacket and capri pants to match. The jacket alone cost $50.00 regular price, and I got the whole outfit for $37.00! Couldn't walk away from that now could I?

We get to the concert and I recognize a lot of people from last year. Only as we get seated and watch the people coming in do we see that this is going to be a much different crowd then last year. A lot of older folks. Ages ranging from late 60's mid 70's to early 20's and even a few teens in there.

The show was amazing. Not as great as last year, but whatever. I could sit and watch them play all night. I'm so happy I remembered to bring my camera this year. You can see some of my photos here at my flickr site.

We had a bunch of drunks in front of us. The bald guy in the white shirt who you can see in some of the pictures. He kept turning around and telling me to be careful not to kick over his beer that he placed on the floor about 6 inches in front of my feet. You have no idea how much I wanted to knock it over. He must have had at least 10 beers in two hours, not to mention the woman at the end who had just as many if not more and was falling asleep in her chair. The couple sitting next to us were really nice. As well as the ones sitting behind us. It was cramped in there too. When I finally went up to the stage the two woman came with me. We danced and giggled and had a great time.

After the concert we came home and Adam finished putting up the trim in Megans room. The kids had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpas. I felt really bad, because they just got back from their trip. They remembered that they had to babysit, but they forgot that it was a sleepover. They were the ones to suggested the sleepover to begin with. Oh well, it was fine and I'm sure they had a good time too.

For right now I'm here by myself, Adam's working 10am to 6:30pm which really sucks because we were out so late last night. And he's not use to working those hours. So while he's gone and the kids are away I better get the lawn cut, and the room back into as much order as I can before my grandparents get home. They've been away for two weeks and have no idea that I painted two rooms and moved Connor upstairs hehe. However my grandmother already said I could do it, so it's not like I did it without permission.

Have a good day!

Painting

We got the paint for Megan's room
and we'll be painting today. Yesterday we got the trim all done, as well as the ceiling and the doors. Why I bought cheap $11.00 paint I will never know. We got a gallon of white and a gallon of primer. And when you buy $11.00 paint you GET eleven dollar paint. What a pain in the arse that was. We had to put three coats plus the primer on the trim and you could still see green through it. Gah. Never. Again. Sheesh try and save a little money because you're broke to begin with. Anyways.. Thank goodness we didn't buy cheap coloured paint. Because that would have just totally sucked. So we're hoping to have her room finished by the end of the day. She's sleeping in our room until the paint smell is gone.

Tonight the kids are going to sleep over at Grandma & Grandpas. They've missed them so much. Adam's parents have been gone for three or four weeks now. To New Mexico and back. So I'm sure even though Grandma and Grandpa will be tired, they'll have a good time. Adam and I are going to see Chris Isaak tonight. We went last August and really enjoyed his show. This time I'm bringing my camera!

Last night we had company and we played the board game FRIENDS. Oh how fun it was. Afterwards we played SCENE IT, another fun game, however I'm not as good at that one as I am at Friends. ahaha.

So I hope you all have a great weekend. I'm off to paint. Again.

Sunflower progress

Remember my little sunflower sprouts taken back in July? Here we are now after one month of growth :)

I sure hope they winter okay. It would be a shame to lose them. After having such a very hot summer, I am thinking we're in for one very cold cold winter. But really, what do I know?

The sicky bug update and updated again!

UPDATE: Just got back from the doctor. She took a throat swab as well as a urine sample from Connor. I'm to try to get a urine sample from Megan and bring that in tomorrow. No need to get a throat swab from her since she's already been on antibiotics. For now we're to treat them symptomatically and I'm to bring in either of them of they get any worse. As of now they're both fine. Once we get the labs back on Connor we'll see if he needs antibiotics.

I really like that about my doctor. She's not a "pill pusher" She makes sure there is a problem before pushing the antibiotics. Now only if the ER doc was so smart eh? Well they have both stopped complaining about a sore tummy, so that's good. Now to keep that fever away.

She looked at my throat too. Even though it feels better. She gave me the all clear. :)

Megan.... well you know the story, if not read the posts below. Well here it is Wednesday night and she's had a fever all day.

Connor.... again read previous posts. He's doing okay, had a fever this afternoon, not so much tonight. Gave him some tylenol before bed anyway.

Me.... the hives are gone. Of course as soon as I spent $26.00+tax on antihistamines just to take ONE pill it clears it all up. Good thing Adam has allergies so he can use the pills. Oh and I have a slight sore throat.

Adam... he's tired and he's cranky

Tomorrow 2:20pm we're off to see our family doctor. Hehe is she going to LOVE us :)

Celebrations and another Fever!

We decided to go out for dinner yesterday. To celebrate our 13 years of being together. Or maybe it was because Adam slept all day and didn't get up till nearly 5pm and I didn't take anything out for dinner hehe.
We had a wonderful time, dinner was very yummy. We went to the place where my brother is the chef. So we knew we'd have good food. :) I wasn't going to post this picture because really the camera adds 10lbs. To everyone! I don't know why they don't make cameras that don't do that? hehe

However not even 15 mintues after this picture was taken we were on our way back to the car and Connor's complaining of a sore tummy...just like Megan, one minute he's fine, next he's sick. We get home, and Connor gives me a hug and I notice that he's burning up! He's got a fever of 103F * 39.8 C* so I give him some tylenol and send him to bed. Every four hours I went up to check on him and give him some more tylenol. This morning he wakes up at 8:30am and he's fine. No fever, running around playing. I just don't get it. So if it's anything like Megan, I'm guessing that I can expect his temp to spike again tonight in the middle of the night. I've got to get some batteries for the thermometer, and I've already prepared myself with some more tylenol. We'll see what happens.

Today is my cousins 19th birthday. His brother turned 16 just a few weeks ago. I use to babysit them every single day from the time they were born. Do you know how old that makes me feel that they are now 16 and 19!!! ie ie ie :)

Happy Birthday guys :) I think you owe me some babysitting hours hmmmmm ;)

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

It's now 3:16pm. I have officially been at the computer too long. I got up and was at the computer at 8am people, and I'm STILL sitting here with nothing to do. Well I did talk with Beth and Kate, not just sitting here doing nothing you know.

In my defense I did feed the kids breakfast. Grilled cheese sandwiches. I also emptied the dishwasher and filled it back up. I've had a shower and got dressed. And I have been on the computer all the while in between all of that.

I'm bored... what else do you want me to do? Adam's sleeping he worked all night. And I think by taking it easy, I'm getting less hives. I called the doctor about that btw. And she told me to get a antihistamine. Yeah I will as soon as I can get to the store.

Today is Adam's and my 13th anniversary. THIRTEEN YEARS we've been together! How did that happen? If you missed the story of us.. Click here.

Today is also Adam's dads 60th birthday! They are somewhere in between Utah and Michigan right now. Happy Birthday Dad!

Megan Update

If you haven't already... go back and read this post.

So Friday= sore tummy
Saturday= fever
Sunday = completely fine

1:00am this morning she starts freaking out again with the sore tummy. Needless to say we didn't sleep last night. A couple hours if that of interrupted sleep. Finally at 6am she woke up again screaming about a sore tummy and finally a fever with it this time. I'm worried now and am concerned about appendicitis. .

After waking up my grandparents (dad's parents) and hoping that they can come to watch Connor if we're not back by the time my mom has to go to work. Off to the ER we go.

By the time we get there, she's calmed down. The triage nurse gives her some stickers and takes her temp and it's 38.8C (101F) gives her some tylenol and asks us a whole bunch of questions while writing everything down. He then sends us off to wait in chairs.

Our hospital is disgusting, it's dirty. There's dried up blood on the chairs. The floors are so filthy that I don't even want to describe them. The walls are just as bad. The place is under construction and the patients are so gross! That could be a whole post on it's own... So I'll stop there.

An hour goes by. With only two people in front of us and the rest of the waiting room empty, foolish me thinks we'll be in and out. You'd think I'd know better by now. Luckily Megan was being a super good girl and we had no problems. We waited and waited. They kept coming to check her temperature. The tylenol was working and she now seems fine.

Adam and I are thinking to ourselves. After the night she put us through, with the moaning and they sobbing and the screaming and tossing and turning. NOW you're content and fine! I start to second guess our going when they call us in. Off to holding we go. It's cooler in there, but oh so much more disgusting. We do our best to keep her from touching ANYTHING! Not easy with a two year old let me tell you.

Another nurse comes and checks Megan's temperature. Which is now normal. The doctor comes in not long afterwards and asks us what the problem is. I explain to him about Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and the crazy night we had. He takes a look at Megan's throat and feels her glands, at which time I'm thinking. Um hello? I said she had a sore tummy! Look at her tummy? Then he turns to us and says. She has Strep Throat.

Strep throat? Why is she having a sore tummy and not a sore throat? He explains it's because she's been swallowing so much saliva that's causing her sore tummy. [Let me just back up for a minute, I've seen and been through many cases of strep throat. Not once has stomach pain ever been a problem in my experience, so I not even once suspected Strep Throat!] So he gives us a prescription and sent us on our way. And that was that!

I on the other hand, am having problem with hives. I'm getting little tiny itchy patches every so often. I'm guessing it's from the paint? Or the Raid I sprayed yesterday? Maybe it's strep throat I don't know but it's bugging me. Could very well be my nerves but who knows. I'm not worried about it, but I am going to complain about it.

The painting we did. So you want pictures eh? It's not all done, but Here you go :) click for larger view!

Holiday?

It's a holiday weekend here in Canada. Monday is our Civic Holiday, don't ask me what it is, because I couldn't tell you. All I know is that Adam doesn't have to go to work tonight. Megan is feeling better, and we have the room painted! Just have the trim left to do and then we can start moving furniture.

Have a great Holiday Weekend!

What is it?

Yesterday morning Megan was fine. She was her usual playful self. Then at noon she started complaining of a sore tummy. Which escalated into her totally freaking out because her tummy hurt. She puked a few times * I'm still sorta convinced the puking was from her crying so much. She settled down and got a glossy look in her eyes. She just layed there in my arms whimpering. I checked her for fever nothing. She calmed down and had a good nap. When she woke up she was fine. She was playing. After a little while she again mentioned she had a sore tummy. But she didn't make too much of it. So I figured she probably just needed to poots. So off she went with Connor to my Aunts house while Adam and I painted Connor's new room.

When she got back my Aunt said she was fine. She played and she drank water and had some crackers and then they swam. She didn't complain for the rest of the night.

Then come about 1:00am she wakes up to go potty and I notice she feels warm. I take her temperature and it's 101. 2F give her some tylenol and brought her to bed with me. When we woke up this morning her temp was again 101.3F. Gave her some tylenol, but she's happily running around playing.

GAH!

In other news. I got word today that our lovely Kate pulled through surgery and is resting well :)

I survived

That was some crazy heat we had there. I managed to survive though. The following night we had some pretty neat storms and I captured some lightning on my camera! Some of the best strikes are near the end.

So here it is Friday already. I don't know where this week went! Yesderday was a busy day. My cousin who was living here, moved out. I was the driver. So now we are back down to a house of 7. Adam, Me, Connor, Megan, my Mom, Nanny and Papa. Which also means the room upstairs is now empty again. And I can move Connor up there. Some of you may remember I had a difficult time with this, but now I simply have no other choice.

You see this is the kids room now. What you can't see is the heater behind Megan's plastic bed
there. Which if fine for the summer since we don't have the heat on. But winter is coming. I have no where else to put her bed. So Connor's moving upstairs.

That'll be this weekends project to paint the room, and get it ready for him. Then we'll of course paint and decorate her room for her. She wants a pink room she says. Connor wants green and blue. We'll see what we come up with. So look forward to many before and after photos :)

What are your plans for this weekend?

Because it matters to me

I'm going to update this post all day just to record the weather. I'm a weather geek okay. And the humidity is disgusting. I can't even believe it. I look outside and the sun is blaring and it's just a haze, I can't even see the houses down the road due to the heavy air.
