1+1=2

Connor's got a nasty cough
Megan's got a sore throat
I'm stuck at home with both of them
Wish I would have known about Megan's throat BEFORE I woke her up to go to school. Now the rest of the day is going to be cranky town around here.
I'm feeling fine.... can I go to school? PLEASE?!?

This is Connor's what.. 8th Halloween?
Yeah, he's been sick for at least 7 of them!
Crazy how that's worked out.

Tagged

For a meme

by Lisa :)

Here we go..

Here are the Rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
6. Let your tagger know when your entry is up

Random Facts:

1. I could sit and smell candles all day long. I love them. The melon scents mmmmm... apple and cinnamon fills my house this time of year. Not only in candle form, but in glade plug ins too :)

2. I can not do math. Don't ask me what 12+8 is because I won't know. I have to count it out on my fingers. I have never been able to do math and suspect I never will.

3. You may laugh, but I am psychic to a certain degree.

4. It kills me that my children are growing up without a pet dog. My grandparents won't allow one in their house so I can't go get them one. Life is just so different without a dog.

5. I have a very sensitive sense of smell.

6. I am getting really fast at typing. I did a test on facebook and got like 90 words per minute or something like that.

Oh, tagging is fun…but I only have one person I will tag Blackbird because she likes to be tagged even though she has done a few similar things to this lately. But I'm sure she can come up with 6 more random things.

anyone else want to play along feel free :)

It's been awhile I know....

Why are my kids waking up so early lately. The clocks are falling back one hour not ahead. If they wake up at 5am next week, I will not be held responsible for what might happen.

Today is Adam's last day of work. Sad really, he's worked with these guys ( well one really) for the past 15 years. That's just a bummer that it's over. I am worried and happy all at the same time, I've hated this 3-11pm shift, and I will be happy to have him home at dinner time again. To help with bedtime again more then 2 days a week, and just to have him home! Yeah I know... you're all taking bets to see how long that will last, before I'm complaining about him. ha ha go ahead and put me down for 2.5 weeks! ;)

Went on a holy childhood walk with the kids today. It wasn't as cold out as I thought it was going to be so it was nice. I did once around the block with them, then let them go with the school for another round, while I stayed back and helped bag carrots and celery to prepare for the bbq lunch. Has anyone heard before that baby carrots are dipped in bleach? A parent told me that the other night. Anyways the bbq lunch went well and I can not even tell you how yummy those hot dogs smelled. I didn't eat one though! I was a good girl. I have to weigh in tomorrow at weight watchers. I'm pretty sure I've been OK this week, I just don't think I lost anything. I think I might finally be at my "stuck" point. We'll see.

After Adam left I raked the drive way, and used the blower to blow all the little bits and then I raked the entire back yard. Three big trees in the back plus the one big tree not to mention the neighbours big trees. Yeah we have a lot of leaves. But it's good exercise. Then it was time to pick up Connor, and come home. I cleaned the house, made dinner and was happy to sit for 20 minutes. I had been on my feet non stop since 8:30am!

Tomorrow is our fun Halloween at the campground. The kids will go trick or treating in the pouring rain and Adam and I will freeze our butts off to get a shitload of candy we don't need. Sounds like fun eh? Then we'll watch them dance for an hour and sweat like crazy because we'll be jammed packed into a hall with a million sweaty little balls of energy some would call children. Well come home that night even though we don't have to because I'm getting old and don't want to camp in the freezing cold anymore.

Oh did I mention we've had snow already! Crazy eh?

Thinking about it

Dear Parent:

We regularly screen students in the primary grades for speech/language needs. Such needs can, at times, impact on children academically and/or socially.

The classroom teacher has identified your child as possibly exhibiting some type of articulation errors.

At this point, I would like the involvement of the NCDSB's Speech and Language Pathologist, Ms. B. She will come to the school and complete and assessment and then make recommendations. The assessment only takes 20-30 minutes. The recommendations can be as informal as incidental prompting and home programs, or they can be more structured , as in speech/language therapy. Of course, nothing will be initiated without your consent.

The enclosed referral form is intended to obtain needed information from home and of course to indicate whether you agree to the assessment. If you do agree, kindly complete and sign the forms and return them to the school.

Please feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
Mrs. F
Education Resource Teacher.

We have always known Connor speaks a bit differently. He's not necessarily hard to understand, he just sort of sounds like he has an accent. He can not pronounce ' R ' rust becomes wust, car becomes caw, and Grams becomes "gwams" and so on. Megan is the same way. She calls Connor "Connoh" and red becomes "wed" For the longest time, Connor could not pronounce the " L " sound. Little became witto, but that he has corrected over time, and with much practice. We have been trying to practice the "er" sound for a very long time now and he's just not getting it. So as soon as I speak with Adam about this. I'm pretty sure we'll sign the paper to see what they will say. The other form indicates that I have the right to withdraw my consent or to have the assessment discontinued at any time. The third sheet has a bunch of questions for me to fill out about pregnancy, and his hearing, and ear infections and colds, and so on. So I'm thinking about it.

Letters

Dear Old Lady Who works at McDonalds

If I wanted a " southwest grilled chicken" sandwich I would ASK for a southwest grilled chicken sandwich. Why is it when I ask you for a grilled chicken sandwich meal you ask me if I mean the southwest. And why would you point to the sign and say " a cibatta" chicken sandwich, when that is the only kind of chicken sandwiches you carry now. You should've just appreciated that I remembered this whole conversation the last time I ordered from you, and I was kind enough to make it easy for you and not ask for my REGULAR grilled chicken sandwich on a sesame seed bun because last time I could see you were very confused. However when I sit down to eat and see you've infact given me a crispy chicken sandwhich you just better thank your lucky stars that my husband was the one who went back to switch it, and how dare you give him attitude! Note that if this happens again I will be speaking to your manager about you.

Yours Truly,
someone who actually has a brain.

Dear Idiot
If you insist on driving an SUV and parking it in one of the easiest parking lots there is, make sure you know how to drive. There should have been no problems getting out of the spot you were in. Why it took you fifteen turns and nearly hitting the cube truck beside you I don't know. The passenger in the cube truck should not have had to tell you to back straight out and then turn when clearly that is the ONLY way you are able to get out of that spot. And I don't even want to think of what you would have done if there happen to be another car beside you. Learn to drive or don't drive at all

Signed, person sitting in the restaurant shaking her head at you.

Dear McDonalds Restaurant

While your staff should know and understand clear plain english and yet get orders mixed up, I understand that they are just trying to make it through the day. I would like to however thank you for finally fixing the tap in the womans bathroom. I'm sure you've saved some money from not having it run constantly for about two years. However if you could just fix it properly so that my four year old daughter could actually wash her hands instead of burning them, it would be nice. And while I have your attention. Please note that it is October the 2nd 2008. It's not even thanksgiving until next weekend, and I would appreciate not listening to CHRISTMAS carols while I try and eat my messed up order thank you for that free piece of crispy chicken on my then fixed plain grilled chicken sandwich, and for the free apple pie, because your staff made a big mistake, and then proceeded to be rude to my husband.

signed, the customer who may just start driving across town to the other mcdonalds when I live right behind your restaurant, or the customer who isn't going take much more of this stupidity.

Dear Adam,

Even though I still don't understand why you fought with me about the paper you were holding to be todays paper when that was just the obvious, when I just wanted to know if it was OUR local paper, I forgive you for it. I know now that everyone else's stupidy was just rubbing off on you. Thank you for lunch and for dealing with that whacko behind the counter and for all the rest you do for me and our family. I know you work hard, and even though I don't tell you enough I really do appreciate it. Now if you'd please get all the recycling off of the fish tank and surrounding area I would be ever so grateful. And while you're there you can empty the damn thing since it's been sitting there fishless for about 8 months. Thanks!

Love, your super awesome wife ;)

As for the rest of the you.... just count yourselves lucky because it's now 8pm and Survivor is on and I'm off to sit on the couch with my blanket because it's flipping cold in here, and I will be content yelling at the people on the screen, because you just know they're going to do something stupid too!

Goodnight

Reason #145 why I love blogging

Because there are really cool bloggers out there that share their recipes!!

I made this and this (with the blackberries from our yard) and I can't tell you how wonderful they were. You'll just have to try them yourself! But make sure you're making it for a group of people or I'm afraid you may just eat the entire thing youself!
