Happy Halloween

Treats

Last night we made 20 of these treat bags for Connor's class. Connor signed his name on all of them. He did complain of a sore hand after the fifth one though. But he made it.

For dinner last night Adam and I had these.
Home made Potato Skins. Mmm mmm mmm they were so yummy. So much so that I think I will make them again sometime. If you haven't tried them before give them a try.
Bake potato for about 1 1/2 hours in oven at 450
Take out and cut in half
Remove potato and put in a bowl and add butter and seasonings to them. Mash them up.
Grate cheese
put some mashed potatoes back in skins (just a little though)
load them up with cheese and bacon and put back in oven for about 5 minutes. Enjoy!

Today's the big Halloween Party at school. Connor couldn't wait to get there!

Connor missed his Halloween Party at school last year, because he was sick. So this year he was very excited. Here he is ready to go in and start his day as a Jaguar.

They're going to have treats and walk to each classroom to show off their costumes. His classmates looked so cute. I'm sorry I won't share a picture, but I will tell you there were four princess', a pirate, a police man, a creepy bloody guy, Harry Potter, Sponge Bob, a kitty fairy, two witches, Dorothy, a lady bug, a devil, Ariel the mermaid, and an elephant. His teacher was the Yellow Brick Road :)
I couldn't imagine having a classroom full of four and five year olds on Halloween! I sure hope his teacher has some tylenol!
After school ( he finishes at 11:47am) we're going to go back and join the rest of the school for a parade. They walk around the neighbourhood and go to the senior citizens home to show everyone their costumes. Much fun.

Tonight we'll try our best to get the kids to eat dinner and then head out door to door for some trick or treating.

Megan the puppy dog! - she won't keep the hood up-

Hope you all have a very Happy and Safe Halloween!

Blessed Be

Lets go fly a kite

It was a perfect day to fly a kite. A little cold, but that was okay. We walked to the park and had some fun.

Watch it here

afterwards we went to McDonalds for lunch with my dad and then we came back home and carved our pumpkins. You can see all those pictures HERE... while you're at my flickr site, take a look around, I've uploaded a bunch of photos. Including some of our kite flying today.

This Sunday Morning

The kids are playing nicely together this morning which rarely happens anymore. Here they are having a tea party with their friends. We were going to go to church this morning, but my head is just pounding. We're under a wind warning and the weather has been crazy and of course I ran out of Advil Cold and Sinus.

The sun is shining today though, which it hasn't done in at least a week. Adam is on holidays for a week until after his birthday. The kids are going for a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpas on Thursday and we're going to go out on a date. Which I don't think has happened since August!

Later today we also plan on carving pumpkins. So check back later for pictures :)

Where did the week go?

I can't believe it's Friday already. I just don't know where the week has gone. I'm feeling ambitious all of a sudden. My mom's friends mom passed away and B (mom's friend) asked if there was anything we wanted from the apartment. So Wednesday we went to take a look. I got a good sized roasting pan, as well as a pasta maker. Now I need to learn how to make my own pasta. I have some good recipes I'd like to try with it. My mother in law makes her own pasta... maybe I'll ask her for a lesson :)

Today is black and orange day at school for Connor. He was so excited to wear his black pants with his back shirt that has a jack-o-lantern on it. He even wanted his black shoes to match his black socks! You have no idea how happy it makes me that my son likes his clothes to match. It's a quirk of mine I guess.

Last night I had a talk with a friend who's going through a very difficult time. It sucks that I can't be there for her. I know from experience that it's times like these that a friend is very much needed. But she knows she is in my thoughts and prayers. Who ever invented long distance phone bills should be strangled. (please if you know who I'm talking about don't mention anything in the comments thank you)

I missed Survivor last night because Megan would not go to sleep. I sure hope Blackbird has it all down for me :)
It's time to change our clocks this weekend. Don't forget!

Have a great Friday everyone

I've had it.

Anyone care to come smash my car to smithereens?

That's right the damn thing is in the shop yet again. It's leaking red stuff this time. Lovely eh?

UPDATED: It was a power steering line. $50.00 later.

Ten years ago, I lost touch with some friends. Today I have found them..Turns out they were looking for me too :) We are all excited to be back in eachothers lives, and we're doing our best to catch up. Email is a wonderful thing :) Ten years ago, we didn't have that! -maybe it was around, but we didn't have it-

Meganisms updated...

Sitting at the table today for lunch

Megan " Mommy.. breakfast ready yet? "
Me: Lunch sweetie.
Megan: "Mommy where me fork go?

Megan screams " F$#K" but she didn't actually swear, she was saying fork, but it just didn't sound like it.

Oh the look on my face!

Then again sitting down to dinner...

Everyone is quiet then out of the blue Megan says...

"bite me"
and she was talking about the steam coming from her noodles that "bite her"
that's my girl!

What once was lost has been "found"

It was September of 92? The first day of grade nine. At least that's what I think it was. There were these two girls that I just seemed to click with right away. Jess and Melanie. We were the best of friends throughout highschool. Jess moved away before we graduated and I have not heard from her since. Melanie and I just seemed to have drifted apart and I have no clue as to why.

For the life of me I can not remember much of why or when. I remember the good times we had sitting in Jess' bedroom talking. I remember being at Melanie's house and sitting out on her porch. I remember there was a guy we use to talk to ...but what his name is I have no clue, all I remember of that is listening to Bob Marley. No we were not on drugs. I remember the walks we use to take, and I remember their moms. Back then we all called eachothers mom "mom" But most of it is blurry. I have no idea why and that frustrates me to no end.

Well I ran into Melanies mom today at church. I don't go to church often, but I just felt I needed to go today. After the mass, a few people commented to me how well behaved my kids were and then Christy ( Melanie's mom) said to me how beautiful they were. I mentioned to her that I went to highschool with her daughter, and asked how she was doing. She told me that she was married and had a daughter, and was living in the states now. She was so kind as to give me her email address.

Now I have to tell you. I've been trying to locate these two friends for years. I have thought about them so much. I missed them. And not knowing why we drifted apart, made me all the more sad. I've even tried to google them to see if I could find them. I guess I should have just went to church more often!

Well it turns out that Melanie still talks to Jess, and Jess has kids as well. Where she is I don't know. So when I got home from church today. I emailed Melanie and now I'm waiting. I'm waiting for her to write back to me. I'm hoping that there is nothing that I have forgotten that she has remembered that isn't good. I'm quite nervous about all of it. And very sad that she's now miles and miles away. And the chances of me actually seeing her again are pretty slim I guess, unless she comes to visit her mom.

It has been ten years. I'm not even sure they want to contact me. I know for a fact they don't know me, as I have changed A LOT over the years. I was a different person back then. I'm sure we all were when in highschool, but I mean I have changed A LOT!! Like I said... I'm quite nervous. I just hope to hear from her.

note: names have been changed of course

Time

There are so many places you can go in time. Whether it's the past, present or future. If I were a better writer I'd go into much more detail as my mind would allow me. But either I'm just not in the mood, or ironically I don't have the time.

So you'll just have to read between the lines, and I'm going to sit and wonder how many of you actually "get" what I'm talking about.

~There was a time when the world seemed like such a bigger place

~ There was a time when I really thought everything revolved around me

~ There was a time when I thought we were friends

~ There was a time when I thought I knew what friendship meant

~ There was a time when I thought that I was doing the right thing

~ There was a time when I wished I had opened my eyes

~ There was a time when I knew that I had found my place in this world....
and then it happened again, and even though I was scared I embraced it.

~ There was a time when I gave up

~ There are times when I just know

~ There are times when I need to be guided

~ There are times when you notice your surroundings are changing

~ There are times when others know before you clue in

~ There will be times when I look back

~ There will be times when I will forget

~ There will be a time when it becomes clear

~ There are times when I just don't want to face it

~ There are times when I know that there are more important things

~ There will be a time I will need to let go

~ There will be a time when I have to do what is necessary

~ There was a time when I had all the answers

~ There is times now when I just don't

~ There is a time... I just don't know when that is

Looky what I got :)

I'd like you all to meet my new best friend

Isn't she cute?

She comes with lots of little toys too
Four cups all with pretty neat coloured rims
four lids,
one is a shaker lid, one is a steamer lid.
Two blades.
and a VERY handy little cookbook.

The best part about it. Is that it was regular $69.99 plus tax so closer to $85.00 but no way I was going to pay that kind of money ( well I would've if I had it)
But to my delight it went on sale. $49.99 at Canadian Tire. Oh and wouldn't you know, we have a whole bunch of Canadian Tire money hanging around... Papa gave me $10.00 and I had $4.40 So my total price including the tax came to $46.00 :) YAY ME!

I've already chopped up some carrots ( which took me 1 second)

Made some 6 second scrambled eggs, which I have to say were the best eggs I've ever made!

Made 5 Cafe Mocha's

2 Strawberry Banana smoothies

this morning I made my very own strawberry syrup

and whipped up some pancakes!

Anyone have any recipes they care to share with me?

Message from a lurker :) A helpful one!

I had a funny conversation with a friend last night. She knows one of my lurkers. My lurker had informed her that every time she came to my site the past few days that it would freeze up her computer and she'd have to restart it. We all found that rather odd, but I fixed the problem. It was my flickr badge. I took that off, and then it worked fine for her. Was anyone else having a problem? Or have came across a site before with one, that caused problems? I still would like to use my flickr badge, I wonder if there is some way I need to fix the code to stop that from happening.

What next?

Megan woke up today with a rash. First it started on the right side of her tummy, some of it was clumpy like this, some of it was just spots. She now has spots on her leg, on her back, a few on her arms.

She's not complaining of being itchy though, and it doesn't seem to be bothering her at all. She's still drinking and eating fine. And there is no fever.

Things to do ...People to see.

Megan's pretty sick. Fever of 102.7F (39.3C) for the past three going on four days. That's not what's bothering her. The fact that she has a mouth full of Canker Sores is. She's not able to eat, or drink anything. I did get her to have some tea with ensure in it though. Tonight is sleepover at Grandma's but she won't be able to go. She'll have a special night with Grandma and Grandpa when she's feeling better.

I have a ton of things to do today and I keep forgetting what they all are

The Mayor is coming to our house today for a visit/meeting with my grandparents. We're pretty peeved about the parking situation on our street.

Connor told me he had a "super great day" at school :) That makes me very happy to hear. And now it's a three day weekend for Thanksgiving!

I hope you all have a great weekend

If all else fails, pull the plug

So we brought the car back to Canadian Tire. On our way there we see my cousin in the truck beside us. My cousin and uncle are our usual mechanics. We only went to Canadian Tire, because we only wanted two tires that were on sale! So anyways... We get there, tell them what was wrong, we walk around for a good hour and a half waiting, looking at all the things we can't buy. When I finally decide to go outside for a smoke. Who pulls into the parking lot.. My cousin. How strange. So we chat for a bit, and then say our goodbye's, and we go and see that our car is finished. The guy tries to explain to us what's going on, what he did and so on, but says he can't fix it because he can't quite figure out the problem. So I say don't worry about it I'll bring it over to my Uncle. The guys look at me like "oh really" when I say the name of the garage, they're like " OHH Charlie's your Uncle? " Yeah. I'll have them look at it for me. And the guy from CT says yeah, or Sparky... ( note that names have been changed) I said, well Sparky is actually here right now, would you talk to him. Sure, so I go get him and they are like " Hey how was hunting, and congrats on the new baby... yada yada yada" then they start talking about all the stuff wrong with our car, it sounds like this, but it's doing that and it's showing a 76.... yeah yeah whatever. Fix my car Sparky!!! So they both come to the conclusion that I need to take it to the dealer.

Well no way in heck can I do that. I 'm broke. I mean really I can't even give them a penny. So Sparky tells me to bring it over to the shop and he'll look at it. When we get there, he's on his way out, and so Uncle Charlie takes our car for a ride, comes back and says. " I've never heard anything like that before" Great!... Now what do I do. So he gets his guy to throw it on the sensor thingamagiggie and sure enough 76... what ever that means. So they talk and Uncle decides, well... Lets just unplug the ABS brakes. You'll still have basic brakes, and it'll be fine. So he does, and voila! Problem solved. No more strange grinding noises when we hit the brakes. Only thing now is that we have no ABS breaks ( I mean really we don't NEED them anyway) and the ABS light is on in the dashboard. Fine with me. I didn't have to pay anyone any money, and my car doesn't sound like it's going to fall to the ground every time I hit the brakes. Whew!!! Thank you who ever you are who was looking down on us today, sending my cousin Sparky over to help me out :) I hope he gets the workboots he was at Canadian Tire for today!!

Moving Forward

It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining, the leaves are bursting with red gold, and orange. The temperature is just perfect and I'm having a good hair day :)

I also had a good talk with Connor's teacher this morning. There has been some things weighing on the minds of the parents that needed some clearing up. And things are okay with me now. I was also thrilled today when I was asked by the school secretary to help out with bingo today. Our school works the bingo hall twice a month Saturday mornings. My how the tables have turned. I use to be the one PLAYING bingo, now I'm going to volunteer to WORK there :) I have always wanted to do that. There was just the one thing holding me back from volunteering. You see, I have a learning disability in Math. Always have, always will. But she assured me that I could take my time, check it out, see how I do, and do so all on my own terms. I'm happy with that and gave her the okay! I start in November.

Yesterday Connor attended a birthday party for one of the boys in his class. All I will say about this while I *roll my eyes* is that parents are crazy and tend to go overboard. And should really think things through before planning events for children. I'm afraid I'm going to have to decline to another party invitation he got. As much as I think going to an indoor waterpark is a cool idea for a birthday party. I don't think it's appropriate for 5 year olds, and I think it's a bit much to ask parents to fork out $30.00 admission + the cost of a gift. It kills me to tell Connor that we can't afford to do this, because I know he'd have an amazing time. We'll just have to visit this waterpark when it's a little more convenient for us.

Losing It

My mind that is. Our car has something wrong with it AGAIN! Yesterday driving to bring the kids to my inlaws, it was fine. Adam and I leave to go exchange my modem, and when I hit the brakes, there's a clicking/clacking/ grinding?? sound. It sounds like the ABS brakes, but it doesn't pull on the pedal and it doesn't affect stopping at all.

It just pisses me off to no end.

They say things happen it threes. Well this will be the third for the car. First it was the muffler, then it was the whatever it was * I'm not a mechanic* and now this. And I'm telling you, this better be because of them just not adjusting something right the last time, because we don't have one cent to pay for it. I'm seriously considering going bankrupt or something. I'll have to call the bank on Monday anyway and see what we can do. This on top of all the other crap happening. There's gotta be an end to it soon.... right?
