People

It's been four years of blogging and I still enjoy it as much as I did the first day. I love to read through people's blogs and of course there are quite a few that I've stuck with over the years.

Jody is one of them. She's got two of the cutest girls ever, when I started reading her, her oldest was JUST born! She's always got something to talk about and it's always interesting to read and posts quite often so you always do have something to read. She even plays these fun games where you bribe her. How fun is that! She's one of the mom's out there that others should take notes from.... she's a great Geek :)

and no I'm not just saying all that to try and win her bribe... I do mean it! Go visit her and see for yourself!

Another one of my favourite bloggers is Jayleigh... and she's having a birthday today! Go wish her some happy happy comments!

Saturday Fun

So the weather warmed up quite a bit and my back only hurts if I move too much, so it was a perfect day to take the kids to try out their new ice skates! Thanks to Adam who was within close hearing range to someone talking about a FREE ice rink here. Off we went. The kids VERY first time EVER on skates :)

We were out there about an hour!

So maddening

I don't care how much or little money you have, I don't care how much in a hurry you are, or how lazy you are. I don't care if your child fights with you until he's blue in the face and is going to be late for the bus. There is NOT one excuse you can give me to let your 6, 7, or 8 year old out of the house in ( 3F) which is -15C weather. Without a hat, mitts, and a coat that does up at the least. Never mind that they're playing in the snow at school that way without snow pants either.

Good & Bad

The bad news is... I've buggered my neck/spine pretty good. I was walking in my boots through the snow when I pulled my hat down a bit and snapped my neck.
The good news is... I am still able to walk and move like a stiff, and I just found out I AM able to lay down but very carefully and if I move the right way I'm able to get back up!

The bad news is... Megan's got spots all over.
The good news is... there is no fever, and the spots seem to be fading
The bad news is.... the doctor wouldn't see her
The good news is... I'm not too concerned about it anyway

The bad news is.... my friend and I went to one bingo hall this afternoon and when we found out it was " quarter bingo" we played the one game and left.
The good news is... we went to another bingo hall and between the two of us we won $625.00

Just in case you were wondering...

No it is NOT a good idea to go have a shower while you THINK your child is occupied playing Webkinz on the computer.

Inside

I honestly don't think that anyone can ever come to fully understand what goes on inside a persons mind. How they think, what they feel, the sense that comes over you which is only for you. It's sad really that someone can not share in the joy... the sorrow... the compassion... the ....... and it's near impossible to explain, and you don't want to explain anyway because that would ruin it all. Sometimes though there is a look, a passing glimpse as to what it all may be. But still the other just doesn't completely get it.

So you go about your days with all this inside of you and wonder.... just how many others there are like you.

This is today

Every morning after I come back from bringing Connor to school. I grab myself my second cup of coffee and sit here at the computer while Megan watches her TV shows. The first thing I look at is the weather.

I saw this this morning!

Yep.. that's the map of Canada. Notice there are more warnings across the country today then not. So of course I click on my area and read this

Strong winds this morning.
This is a warning that damaging winds are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

Snowsqualls have developed in the wake of a sharp Arctic cold front which is sweeping across the district this morning.

Behind the cold front very strong westerly winds ushering in much colder Arctic air will quickly begin to generate snowsqualls off of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay today and tonight. OPP reported near whiteout condition in snowsqualls over lions head around 2:15 AM. Snowfall amounts of near 15 centimetres are likely by this evening from the snowsqualls. Blowing snow is also going to be a significant problem especially in exposed areas thanks to the strong westerly winds.

Motorists planning to travel into these regions should be prepared to change their travel plans accordingly. Driving conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly this morning with dangerous winter driving conditions due to whiteout conditions from blowing snow and bursts of heavy snow.

The snowsqualls will likely continue into the overnight period and may extend well into the weekend across parts of the district as a very cold westerly flow of fresh Arctic air continues.

Meanwhile sustained winds of 60 km/h gusting to 80 to 90 km/h are expected this morning over eastern shores of Lake Erie especially near the Fort Erie area..And over the shores of Lake Ontario in the region of Picton - Sandbanks Park.

Okay.. I'm curious... who didn't bother to read the whole thing?

So what totally sucks is that we're suppose to have company tomorrow, and the kids are SUPER excited ( why do I tell them things like this ahead) and now I don't know if our friends will make it.

That's what I do. Then I find myself some breakfast. I've decided I would like to join weight watchers . I've been looking it up on the internet, as well as I have two cousins that are already memeber and have been for years. So I'm well informed. The thing is it's EXPENSIVE!! $16.00 a week expensive... but well worth the money, I would also quit going to the chiropractor so as to put the money towards this {{{ if you've been reading me for a few years you'd know that I suffered with terrible back problems, so bad that I couldn't even walk and if you're new here... now you know}}}

I'm better now and while I'm sure that continuing with the chiropractor will help, I'm sure losing the weight I need to will help just as much. The other problem is that the meetings are held Tuesday nights at my nearest location which is within walking distance at 6:00pm. Adam leaves for work those nights at 6:30pm, I don't know if I'd be home in time.

And my last problem is I've put it in my mind that I'm going to do this, so I've already started to try and change my eating habits, and I've blown it every day. That... and I don't want to go by myself. I'd like someone I know to come with me. I don't know if my cousins go Tuesday nights or not. Anyways... I'm going to keep my finger on it and see what happens.

Playin around...

I did this little quiz thing on " What does your birth date mean?" and here are the results.

Things dont come easy to you, even though you have the potential and the caliber. Spiritually inclined, you tend to take a step back from the world in introspection. You're very sensitive to what's going on around you, yet you remain composed. Although you are brilliant, it may take you a while to find your niche. Your creativity is supreme, but it sometimes makes it hard for you to get things done.
Your greatest strength is: Your inner peace. Your greatest weakness is:You get stuck in the clouds. Your lucky color is: Emerald
Capricorn goes best with Virgo, Taurus, Scorpio and Pisces.

P. S bring tissue!

First I must tell you, that my eyes can well up at a freaken drop of a hat. Sing the National Anthem... yup tears, see another person crying... tears, I can't even sing Christmas carols for pete's sake. But movies... they really get to me. But not usually too bad. A few scenes my eyes will well up and not a drop of a tear will come out. Some of course the tears do tend to get in the way of what I'm seeing. Of course there's the movies with the scenes that really get you. Like Stepmom, or Ghost, or Steel Magnolias.. those are just a few off the top of my head. But THIS movie..... this one... I freaking balled like crazy! I was fine the first five minutes of the movie but that was it.... right to the flipping end. Yes there were parts that I had a chance to catch a breath and even have a laugh, but then right back to the crying. Not just wet eyes that well up and drops falling out. I'm talking the kind that took everything in me to stop myself from actually sobbing. I even had to take my glasses off to watch, because I kept getting tears on them.

So... go ahead and go see it if you think it intrests you. It really was a GOOD movie... but if you don't want to sit there and sob like a baby in a theatre full of people... wait for it to come out on dvd. TRUST ME!

What the heck?

It is still January isn't it? I mean I didn't miss my birthday did I? Check's calender.. nope still 3 days to go. So then why... why is it 60F ( 16C)???? I went out this morning with just a sweatshirt on and I was hot! The sun is shining even. That's not suppose to happen in January!!! It's suppose to be cold and snowy and blowy.. it's suppose to keep all the depressing people in the house to hibernate until spring. But it sure as heck looks and FEELS like spring out there.

I have so much to do by tomorrow. I need to get Megan packed and ready to go to Grandma and Grandpa's, I need to make sure all instructions are clear where Connor is concerned. I need to pack for Adam and myself, I need to find Connor's teacher a b-day present as I learned this morning that she shares the same birthday as I do. And I won't be here Friday morning. I have to double check our reservations for the hotel and make sure Adam gets the car all ready to go. Gas, air in the tires, check oil, windshield wiper stuff, etc. And in an hour I have to bring Megan to library club. My kitchen needs cleaning and I still haven't washed the kitchen floor, which I know could wait, but seriously you need to be careful where you step with your socks, cause you'll stick to the floor. All that and I am having such a hard time waking up today. Day two of getting back into the swing of things is hitting me hard. I so did not want to wake up when the alarm went off. I was spoiled over the holidays waking up at 10am-11ish..

I still haven't figured out how to get my haloscan comments back up and running. Does anyone even care? It's not like I get many comments anyway. Not that I care, I don't write in here for people to read and comment, although it is nice. So hey do me a favour if you're here reading, leave a comment and let me know if you prefer haloscan or blogger... just so I know. Thanks :)

update: as you will see I figured out haloscan comments :) Yay me!

Sunday, January 06, 2008

Well...

as you can see I've got a new template :) thanks to my brilliant friend :) Who helped me out with this awhile back. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to get my haloscan comments back.

You'd think after FOUR years of blogging. I'd learn not to fiddle around with my template when I am tired. But no. It's late and school starts again tomorrow. And I have to get to bed.

Goodnight!

Thanks

Thank you to you who were concerned for my dad. He's fine, and now living with his parents for the time being. I was just frustrated when I wrote that.

Anyways.. my couch is awaiting. We're in the middle of Season 3 of Lost. It's just so damn good we only turn it off to sleep ( although going to sleep at 3am isn't such smart idea when you have two kids to wake up to the next day) shut up! I know.. I know.. and eat. Which I just finished doing. So off I go back to watch Lost.

Ugh...

I've got this knot in my stomach.
It's my Dad
He says he's trying
I don't know how much I believe him
I thank him for coming over to visit sober
I dropped him off at a church shelter tonight
He's going to eat and sleep there
All he had was the clothes on his back
If I had a house of my own I'd offer him a room
I still feel bad that I'm sleeping in my comfy bed tonight
And he is there.
I also know that I had a choice, and I chose to let him go through with it.
I do however hope and pray for him that he will learn, he'll conquer his battle, he'll seek the help he needs and follow through with it. For him.

but ugh....

UPDATE:

Strange thing happened last night. I went to bed right after writing this post. I was saying my prayers when I heard someone come in the door. I got up and went to see who it was, knowing it wasn't Adam home from work yet. And sure enough it was my dad. Asking to sleep on the couch. How about that!

And that's all

Done. No more family get togethers, no more this food or that, no more we have to be here for this and there for that. Done. The holidays were good, we had a nice time. And now it's time to work on getting to bed by at least 11pm for me and 8pm for the kids, it's time to plan meals, because we're not going to be here or there or everywhere. It's time to take down the Christmas tree, although I usually leave it up for Little Christmas. It's time.. why.. because now it's time to start celebrating MY birthday!!!
9 days to go! heheh

Oh and just for fun I took this little quiz... makes sense since I'm Irish and all ..
Your Inner European is Irish!
Sprited and boisterous!

You drink everyone under the table.

Who's Your Inner European?

Although I'm not much of a drinker.
