What does it mean?

Your Birthdate: January 11

Spiritual and thoughtful, you tend to take a step back from the world.
You're very sensitive to what's going on around you, yet you remain calm.
Although you are brilliant, it may take you a while to find your niche.
Your creativity is supreme, but it sometimes makes it hard for you to get things done.

Your strength: Your inner peace

Your weakness: You get stuck in the clouds

Your power color: Emerald

Your power symbol: Leaf

Your power month: November

I find this quite accurate don't you think? What I find interesting is the fact that Connor's birthstone is an Emerald, I hang a four leaf clover around my neck, and my husbands birthday is November.

It's raining here today. Have I ever mentioned that I feel most at peace when it's raining or snowing out? When it's hot an sunny I often feel tense, and aggrivated, I feel like I don't want to do anything. When it's cloudy and raining or cold and snowing I'm generally a happier person, I feel full of energy and I'm more relaxed and at ease rather then tense...does anyone else feel this way? How does the weather affect your mood?

P.S.. Blogger is pissing me off today

Surgery Day

I woke up at 7am and had a quick shower, my mom was on her way to the hospital and I wanted to go with her. On our way to pick up my Aunt we saw a beautiful rainbow. We parked the car in the parking lot and when I turned around there it was. One big colourful beautiful rainbow stretched right over the hospital. You have no idea how I wish I would have brought my camera.

My Grandfather had his surgery this morning to remove the colon cancer. I'm happy to report that everything turned out good. I was there when the doctor came out to talk with the family. They removed the cancerous polyp as well as a good chunk of the bowel, and were able to staple it back into place. Which means no colostomey bag. He didn't remove the other two spots but felt that it was okay, he checked them well and said we'll keep an eye on them over the next year. We still have to wait a week for the results of the microscopic tests they're doing to determine the stage of the cancer etc.

So even though we still have another week of waiting, it's such a relief to know that so far he's doing okay. Thank you to everyone who offered their good thoughts and prayers our way, if you'd still continue to do so that would be great.

Right now I'm at Adam's parents house and the kids are gone off to the park with Grandpa, Adam's having a nap on the couch. The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day.

Do they have ears?

I know they do. They must, they're quite cute too really. And I know they work, because today Connor picked out the bongo drums in a song, and he can hear me whisper, and he can hear things like lawn mowers down the street and the train that goes by even before I do sometimes. I know he has ears. I know Megan does too. She's got quite good ears actually. But yet my children do not listen. I can stand there and yell at the top of my lungs (do you know how much that hurts the throat) at Connor and he will not even flinch. I've stepped right in front of him, I've done everything imaginable to get his attention and to keep his attention when I have it. It drives me crazy.

But that's not my problem right now. I can handle being ignored. What I can't handle is the fact that when I tell him flat out NOT to do something, he still goes ahead and does it. I know we all do that to some point, but when someone tells you the truth about the scary things that could happen you just don't do it. " Connor do not ever step on your sister ever again" "Connor you do not punch your sister in the stomach" "Connor do not hit your sister" next thing I know I turn around and there he is standing on her back. There is not much weight difference between them. She weighs 32lbs at 2 years old, he weighs 40lbs at 5 years old. But that's not the point. The point is it's not allowed and there is always consequences for his actions and I follow through with them each and ever time. He gets put in his "spot". I've even hit him back to see how he likes it. I've told him that Jesus will be very upset with him if he hurts his baby sister that He gave to him. That helped for about a day or two.

Now don't get me wrong, Connor is not a violent little boy, he doesn't get in trouble a lot and he's rather well behaved. But it's the carelessness that has to stop. And I just don't know what else to do about it that I haven't already tried. Also know that Megan is no princess either * even though she's called that* She does just as well to hit, and to instigate matters. And she too gets punished for her actions.

Anyone got any ideas?

Life sucks

Went in to get two tires put on the car, because they desparatley needed it, and they were on half price.

$900.00 later, call my mom for a ride. Call Adam's parents for help with the money

We are not happy. not at all. And this has nothing to do with the fact that the car almost didn't start the other day.

The car may not have blown a gasket, but I'm sure as heck ready to.

I don't know, but maybe you do?

I would like to thank Mac for helping me out with the code for my template. You all hear that music right? Are you using IE or Firefox or Other, and is it working okay for you? That is something I have been trying to figure out from the beginning my time here in blogland. Yeah so since December of 2003!! I knew how to play midi files on there, but never songs that I have downloaded on my computer.

My Dad called awhile ago. I had asked him what he wanted for his birthday which is coming up in January. He's turning 50 and I thought it would be nice to do something for him. Well he calls me up and says he knows what he wants. I'm like. Oh? What's that? He wants a jacket. But not just any jacket. He wants his highschool jacket. You know the type I mean? The kind they wore on Happy Days. Yeah.. well... I don't know, we'll see.

I have a question to which I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but I want to hear what you all have to say about it. All you coffee drinkers anyway. Does it make a difference in the taste of your coffee depending on what kind of coffee maker you have? That said, what kind of coffee maker do you use, and how good is your coffee?

Get to the point.

I have a headache
The car almost didn't start this morning
I have a musty smell in my kitchen and I can't find where it's coming from
My best guess is the fridge, ( the seal of the fridge, not the inside)
I have a headache
Watched Dancing with the stars and was suprised Jerry wasn't the one eliminated. Damn fans!
Survivor tonight!!
Did I mention I have a headache?
Tried to help a friend yesterday with her hair. It didn't turn out right and I feel bad.
We're in the process of watching This Show Season Five on DVD
I really want a new fridge
I really really want a new car
I really want this headache to go away
Bathed in Epsom Salt last night, was amazed at how much it released the tension in my shoulders
Had a dream last night about the number 20. Don't know what that means
Also dreamt that I spent $100.00 on 649 tickets. That's just crazy!
Would like to say CONGRATULATIONS to Iowa Geeks!
Am anxious to start Christmas shopping
Hmmm maybe my kids would like a new fridge for Christmas?
Headaches suck did you know that?

Wow

Have I ever neglected my blog for five days before? I mean other then having to because I was gone away and really unable to get computer access? I really don't think I have. I may have but anyways... It's been five days. I haven't went anywhere. I'm not even busy. I am just ____. I don't even know what to fill the blank in with.

I'm not the type of person who feels I HAVE to blog. I don't even really care if anyone reads my blog ( hehe but it sure is nice) and I don't feel guilty at all for not posting anything. But incase anyone is interested here is what's been going on in "Jennifer's World"

Thursday (14th) marked the 6 year anniversary of the moment I found out I was pregnant for my first baby. The emotions that ran through me when I saw the two little lines on that stick is something I will never ever forget. I was so excited yet so terrified at the same time. I half laughed and I mostly cried. Adam held me in his arms and I remember saying " I'm so scared, I'm so scared" it was also the day I hurt my back and I was unable to move for about 2 weeks. I was on the floor. Literally unable to move. My chiropractor came to my house and there wasn't anything he could do for me. Until the pain settled. My greatest challenge was getting to the bathroom (which is only about 15 steps from where I was) with the help of my Mom and Adam. Friends came to visit and we had to tell Adam's parents our exciting news from the floor!

Friday I lazed around the house. My cousin Tracy came over to visit and we went to Walmart to pick up some pullups for Megan and had pizza for dinner and ice cream from Dairy Queen for dessert. We "danced" with the kids ( mostly we exercised the pizza and ice cream away!

Saturday we went to my cousins wedding. All I will say about that is that I was having an extremely bad hair day and the wedding was very unorganized, the food sucked, and we had the kids. Should explain a lot?

Sunday I cut the lawn and swept the driveway while Adam put the rest of the third coat of driveway sealer on. Then I tried to have a nap, but couldn't. Then I made dinner. Ribs and fettucini alfredo. Sat around and felt blah all day. My friend from Mexico came by for a visit, I haven't seen her since my wedding 7 years ago. She just stopped by for a quick visit on her way to the airport. Then I put the kids to bed. I went to bed at 10:00pm and was still awake at 11:00pm. Why I'm getting insomnia now I have no clue. I wasn't even laying there thinking of anything. My mind wasn't busy at all. I was relaxed. I just couldn't sleep.

This morning when the alarm went off at 7:15am I did not want to get out of bed. My coffee maker broke down right in the middle of making my pot of coffee. Four cups in the pot, four more still waiting to come out? WTF??? So I decided to just get Tim Hortons coffee this morning after I dropped Connor off at school. Which I noticed that his teacher wasn't there again. This is day three. And I along with another few parents are concerned about what our kids are doing at school. Not because their normal teacher isn't there, but they've been coming home with pictures that they drew with stencils and that's it. We haven't heard much of what is going on during the day.

Yes that is my boring life. I wonder how many actually read the whole post? haha

Argh! UPDATED and with Photos!

The Kids Tea Party- click for pictures
Nanny always gives the kids a special tea party. Complete with dressing up and special rules. "must wear slippers" How many of us can say we've enjoyed many many tea parties with our Great Grandmother?

Sunflowers
I can't believe how quick they grow. I planted these in June.

Of my new bedspread and curtains to go with my new painted room

Of my new kitchen counter and faucets.. But right now, my kitchen is torn apart because my grandfather and Adam are installing a new counter top. And if you've seen the size of my apartment, you know that if the kitchen is torn apart then the whole house is torn apart

It' was8:42pm and they were still cutting with saws and drills and my kids are NOT going to bed until they are good and tired because I am NOT waking up at 5:00am like I did this morning with Megan.

How I'm still even awake is beyond me.

Gotta run. I'll be back when I can

Hey look at that I'm back in no time at all. Adam got the whole kitchen done last night and we managed to get it all back together today! YAY!

The kids slept all night and I got some sleep too. double yay!

What Next?

I should have known by the night I had that today wasn't going to be any better. If you haven't yet go and read this mornings post. Go ahead it's short... I'll wait....

Yeah. Well cleaning up that mess was not fun. And it's still not finished. I have yet to wash the floor and the fridge and the walls, and cupboards and any other nook or cranny that crap got into.

And it gets worse!

Today we found out that my grandfather does have colon cancer. They found three spots during a colonoscopy, and today they confirmed cancer in one of the polyps. And the doctor says he still doesn't like the looks of the others. He's scheduled for surgery September 27th to have that all removed and all we can do now is pray that it hasn't protruded the bowel wall. One. Day. At. A. Time.

Then! Oh yes it gets worse.

I go to pick up Connor from school and his teacher asks me to wait a minute because she'd like to talk to me. Things start running quickly through my head.. Connor was fighting, Connor pushed someone, or he got hurt or something. Oh no... It was worse then that. Today at school after French, Connor's teacher took the class for a walk, Connor was in the bathroom when they all left, he came out and everyone was gone!! He was scared and crying. He sat in the rocking chair and cried and he said he wrote a message(whatever that means) and cried and cried. And when his teacher came back, he was still crying and he told her "Mrs. ... Why did you leave me alone? You left me here and I was all alone". She didn't do a head count when she left because the kids were with their French teacher. " Mme, had them" she told me, "so I didn't even think to do one" She also said to me that she wants them to know that if anything happens like that and they don't know what to do, to go to the next door classroom and tell the teacher. Well SHE has to teach them that! I can tell him until I'm blue in the face, but I'm at home, she's at school.

Later I talked to one of the other parents to see what her daughter had to say about it, and then I talked to another mom as well. And both their kids said the same thing. Connor was in the bathroom and got left behind and was crying on the carpet. I thanked the one parent and asked her to thank her daughter for being the one to tell her that Connor wasn't with them.
Ugh! I'm upset about it and the " what if's " are running through my head. Not to mention the crazy freak show I am about the whole lost thing to begin with... But I am happy that he is okay and doesn't seem too traumatized over it. And I'm going to have another talk with his teacher tomorrow.

Now I just want to climb into bed and forget today ever began. And I just now realized that I put Megan to bed in a Pull Up and I am cringing at the thought that she's going to wake up again soaking wet and we're going to have another repeat of last night.

Adam just called me to remind me to tape Dancing with the Stars and then I'm going to go to bed. Hopefully for a full nights sleep and a better day ahead tomorrow.

But first... for some happier things... Addie tagged me :) and here it is.

1. If you make sweet tea, or your favorite style, do you use Luzianne, Lipton or something else? Sweet tea? I'm guessing that is iced tea? I like Nestle and that's it. I don't like hot tea, I drink coffee.

2. What brand of toilet paper do you buy and is it the larger rolls or regular? I have tried many brands, but I will only buy Our Compliments now 2 ply. Regular rolls. ( sometimes double rolls)

3. Which brand of bath soap do you use? Body wash or bar? Dove or Ivory... Or whatever is on for cheapest that smells the best.

4. What cereal do you buy for yourself? Honey bunches of Oats, Oatmeal Crisp, Raisin Bran Crunch... And so many more. But I'm not the only one who eats it. The kids polish them off sometimes before I even get a bowl.

5. What brand of dishwasher detergent do you use? Liquid or tablets? Electrasol Tabs with the power ball.

6. What’s your favorite fruit? Nectarines

7. Which brand of laundry detergent do you use? Tide with downy, liquid. But I don't use it. Adam does.

8. Do you like chocolate? Um..Is the Pope Catholic?

9. Are you right or left-handed? I'm right handed, but I use my left a lot. I often get asked... Aren'tt you right handed" by my mom or my grandmother when I'm using a fork and knife, or ironing, or many things.

10. Do you still write checks or use a debit card? We use cheques sometimes like to give a gift to someone, or to pay someone like my grandmother for rent or something. But we use our Debit card aka Interac while shopping, or anywhere, damn the service charges though!

I'd like to tag Blackbird, Jenny, and Lisa and Mamalife Lisa ... well only if they'd like to play that is and I tag anyone else who wants to be:)

Somebody Please Tell Me...

Why my children won't sleep?

Why did Megan get out of her bed and climb into mine at 1:40AM and get pee all over my bed
instead of telling me she needed changing like she always does?

Why not just one of them but they BOTH had to get up at 3:30 AM and dump baby powder ALL over the couch and floor? Not to mention this morning procede to pound on the couch so the powder flies all over and settles onto every single piece of furniture, so now it looks like it snowed in my apartment?

Why does school have to start so damn early?

Why is it that we were cold free all summer long and now not even a week back to school we all have colds?

Why won't my children listen to me?

p.s. I totally stole this blog title from Beth :)

A post in which I have nothing to say

Nothing that's exciting anyway. This waking up at 7am is for the birds. I don't like it one bit. I'm so tired by 10pm that I don't even get that much "me" time anymore after the kids go to sleep at 8pm. My daily routine consists of waking up, having a shower, feeding kids, bringing Connor to school, with Megan too since Adam has to sleep, coming home having coffee, cleaning what I can if I feel like it, picking up Connor from school, and then the rest of the afternoon seems to consist of whining kids, tired me, and that's about it. I'm sure it's going to take some time to get use to it.

I woke up with a headache today. I'm guessing it's because it's suppose to get up to 32C ( 89F) today and then thunderstorm tomorrow. I was very happy with our 60F weather. The leaves are changing... some trees have already begun to drop their leaves. I like wearing sweatshirts. Go away summer! Until next June when we're sick of winter and ready for some fun in the sun.

We're still waiting to hear the results of my grandfathers tests, but all signs are pointing towards cancer. Waiting sucks.

Adam is suppose to seal the drive way tomorrow. It's suppose to rain though. We'll see what happens.

I recently learned that while playing tag. Homefree is now called " T " yeah okay. whatever!

Last night Connor asked me to get him a Dreamcatcher. I have no idea how he even knows what one of those are and he also knows what they do.

We're quickly approaching the end of the year and I am still not yet diaper free. Last December Megan was well on her way to being potty trained. She's still there. Just not moving forward. Right now she's in her room doing a puzzle and singing the alphabet.

Okay now I'm just rambling and complaining and who really wants to hear that!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Senior Kindergarten!

First day of school. Can you even believe it? Where did summer go? Connor was so excited to get back to school that I had a hard time keeping him calm this morning. He was up and raring to go at 7:00am. Ate breakfast, got dressed, brushed his teeth, got his shoes/coat and backpack on and was ready to go. We still had 15 minutes before it was time to leave. And my son, the one who is usually glued to the television didn't even want to watch TV before school.
Here he is. So big yet still so little. The smile you see isn't a "I'm not to sure I want to be here smile" It's more of a hurry up and take the dang picture mom and lets get inside smile.
We get to the back and he's happy to see all of his friends. Only three kids from his class did not return this year, but four new ones joined the group. I was happy to have a short chat with his teacher, and was glad to see I wasn't the only one who really didn't know what was going on. I had no trouble leaving him there today. I didn't shed a tear. My heart did melt if only for a second when he turned to wave goodbye. Megan however was quite upset that we left without her brother. After school we got to talk with his teacher again. He had a great day. We then went out for our traditional first day of school lunch at McDonalds. ( tradiitional meaning we went last year too) Now we're just lazing around the house and don't really know what else to do. I know I certainly could go to sleep though. I do not like waking up at 7am one little bit!

Hope you all had a great day and if you had little ones going back to school Happy First Day of school :)

Long Weekend

The long weekend is upon us. What does that mean for me? It means Adam doesn't have to go to work tonight, and I have one more day to get Connor ready for school. However Ernesto also showed up yesterday and it was one heck of a rainy day. That didn't stop us though. We headed out and took about an hours drive to pick up some free stuff I got on Freecycle. Two bedspreads, some sheet sets, some clothes which included a Dora snowsuit for Megan, some diapers and some toys. How cool is that! Everything is in excellent condition too. Afterwards we stopped at a Walmart on the way and got Connor a back to school outfit. Yes just one. Luckily I've had some hand me downs from a very generous friend of my moms. Then drove the extra half hour to visit Adams parents.

We have no plans for the holiday, except to get to bed early. I've been trying for the past few weeks to train myself to get up at 7:30am. What time have I been waking up? 10:30am, 8:30am, 9:50am! It's just not happening. So I suspect I'm going to be one tired girl come next week. I'm not a morning person. My day does not start until at least 11am. I have not had to be up and out of the house on a regular basis since *I* was in school! Which was well... A very long time ago!

It's still a very cloudy, cold, damp sort of day. What are you doing this long weekend? Well we all know what Cady and Joe are doing :) They're getting married today! Everyone go wish them well wishes and reassure them that rain on their wedding day IS good luck ;)
